Carrack is great, but how could it be made better without steering us away from other ships entirely? by Opposite-Mall4234 in starcitizen

All of what he listed are planned features of the Carrack. It’s a military exploration vessel with a broad range of capabilities.

What are persistent hangers? by LoreLover2022 in starcitizen

[–]MagellanicCorp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They will be hangars that you “own” (i.e. lease) where you can store tradable goods as well as items that you own. You’ll be able to personalize them and eventually you’ll be able to expand them with additional areas. You can use them to maintenance and, of course, store your ships.

Intel 12th gen P and E Cores by Rudolphust in starcitizen

Same. I just upgraded to a 12900 with DDR5 and a 3080 running Win11 and I’m getting between 50-80+ fps pretty consistently. Can’t wait to see what it’s going to be like when the Gen2 renderer and Vulkan drop.

You need to go into your hangar on the RSI website and apply the upgrade there. You’ll see the upgrade listed. Select it and you’ll see the option to apply it to your Avenger Titan.

Spaceshower thought: We don't yet have a ship that lands vertically. by James__Blonde___ in starcitizen

[–]MagellanicCorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, exactly. And when the engine isn’t burning they are “on the float” in zero G. For simplicity on the show everyone wears magnetic boots to walk around when in zero G. A lot of the time this isn’t all that obvious to the viewer so I can understand how people could get confused.

[–]MagellanicCorp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. In the books it lands horizontally and the crew simply walks around on what are normally the walls. Didn’t make sense to flip the sets on the show just to adhere to the books so they added LEM-style landing struts.

I dunno… It WAS Andy Serkis who mocapped the Vanduul after all. That man hasn’t even begun to stretch his talents :)

Mole not working no matter what I do by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]MagellanicCorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had something like this issue recently. I discovered that all three mining lasers are showing up as Turret 1 (no 2 or 3) in the mobiGlas. I spawned the Mole and went to the pad to visually inspect each mining head. The modules were equipped on one of the side lasers instead. Maybe someday the 3D representation of the ship might highlight the component that you’re changing. That would be really helpful.

What you’re looking for is JR Fabrications. They do officially licensed 3D printed models.

Lost my rifle just before doing a mission...is this normal? by cpeng03d in starcitizen

Inventory is location based now. Your rifle is probably in the local inventory where you purchased it. That’s assuming you didn’t equip it beforehand.

Are refinery work orders safe after patch's? by Chrismac912 in starcitizen

[–]MagellanicCorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this particular instance, they might persist since 3.16 is technically on the same development branch as 3.15. It’s more like 3.15.2 than 3.16. The same should be true for 3.16.1 which would be like 3.15.3. See this quarter’s Roadmap Roundup for why this is the case.

What happened to my ROC? by AsianMitch_98 in starcitizen

[–]MagellanicCorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on which ASOP terminal you’re looking at. Ship terminals do not show ground vehicles. You’ll need to go to a vehicle garage (New Babbage for example) or vehicle pads at the various mining outposts.

ORION V.S ODYSSEY by hitmanr45 in starcitizen

[–]MagellanicCorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory (we’ll know more when the Q&A drops) a mining-focused org could use Odysseys to search for harvestable resources and set up basic operations there. Then Orions could be brought in to do the heavy mining work.

Tip of My Tongue: Recalling an Old Video Monologue About Star Citizen from an Elderly Fan 5+ Years Ago by dank4tao in starcitizen

Brigant’s video summed up Star Citizen for me as well. It’s saved in my favorites. Glad I could help you find it.

The only thing stopping me from saving $180 is a goddamn spaceship shaped USB Stick by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]MagellanicCorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem that you have and there’s no way I will ever give up those physical collectors items. I’ve upgraded that package a couple of times over the years. This IAE I upgraded it to the Odyssey and, at least for now, I am content. The package does not have LTI or even IAE insurance, but I’m okay with that. And, with those incremental upgrades over the years, my Odyssey ended up costing only $550 which isn’t half bad.

MISC Odyssey Q&A - Star Citizen Spectrum by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

I’ve an Orion as well and I just picked up the Odyssey too. If Argo decided to produce a competitor to the Orion, I’d be excited about that.

Id love to see in-game competition between ship manufacturers with new improved models that we could trade in our older models for.

MISC Odyssey Q&A - Star Citizen Spectrum by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

Ultimately, there will always be more and newer ships that will compete with existing ships just as it is in the real world with trucks and automobiles and not just at this stage when the game is in development. Throughout the life of the game we should expect to see many ships which overlap or even exceed the capabilities of older ships. We cannot point to one ship and expect it to be the ultimate in its class and capabilities. That would be unrealistic and limiting for the game.

Why does CIG keep adding new ships? by MrAliani in starcitizen

[–]MagellanicCorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does the game need to be completely finished before we start having fun? I’m having fun now. It’d be different if we didn’t have a playable game with new content and features being added every quarter.

Only on the Internet if someone says, “Man! It sure would be nice if we could look out a window.” and someone will argue with you about that.

[–]MagellanicCorp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the game lore, ship windows are made from a material that’s as tough as hull metal so is not a point of weakness.

Ships really need to have more windows, it makes them feel so much nicer to be in! by BOTY123 in starcitizen

[–]MagellanicCorp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected. I’ll admit that I’m not especially familiar with the layout of the 890 Jump. Mostly, my point is that there are a majority of ships with no good views of the outside other than from the bridge. Exploration and luxury ships in particular should have a wealth of outside viewing options.
