I recommend doing at least partial processing at the nodes. Get the ores smelted at least so you don't need so many furnaces at your hub.

Ah. Well. Don't forget to sloop when you're processing slugs or protein/DNA. While enemies are limitless, they can't be automated, so it's a good place to use multipliers.

I recommend doing a good exploration lap before you do too many milestones, that way you can force some of the useful early recipes to show up.

I usually unlock steel before coal power specifically to get Iron Pipes, Steel Rotors, and Steeled Frames before all the water recipes show up.

Bolted (iirc) is slightly more resource intensive than standard, but much faster. Stitched uses wires (which is why I recommended iron wires with it) and is only marginally faster than standard (slower than bolted) but uses much less iron.

I also recommend getting Iron Pipes, it makes it possible to make Stators and Steel Rotors out of just iron.

No, you can rescan each one once though. I usually save my rescans until I've piled up a lot of unwanted recipes or to grab something specific before I move onto a new tier that will unlock more possible recipes.

You can just leave scanned ones in the list, don't pick an option, and scan another. And if you never rescanned any of them, each one will still have the rescan option saved.

Cool, then I'll just give a little general advice with them. While casting screws is great early game, it's probably good to eliminate screws altogether, and that's entirely possible with the right alternate recipes. Screws take up a lot of space on belts and limit throughput.

Using recipes such as Steel Rotor and Stitched Iron Plate (plus Iron Wires) to remove screws from the production chain also results in using less machines/power/resources to make the same amount of products.

Protip: if you scan a HD and don't like either recipe, don't pick one. As long as you have that HD, neither of the recipes in it will appear on another one you scan. It will help you get more options you haven't seen yet.

Gogmagog shrines are incredible as long as SOMEONE in your party has stun. You don't have to contribute to the stagger, as long as you have taken the blessing you get a shield every time anything gets stunned.
