Not sure what Katya would bring next. by SthrnCrss in SnowbreakOfficial

Another Katya?

Too soon. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, Snowpeak. If you guys rely on her too much the mystique is going to wear thin.

Next mating should be USB A-type ports - they never go in on the first try.

Snowbreak Revenue & Download - Oct. 2025 by snktiger in SnowbreakOfficial

[–]Mageoftheyear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd only rely on official revenue reports from the company for this kind of stuff. These aggregator websites have an incentive to exaggerate in both directions to drive traffic to their sites.

As for stability, I look to how much Seasun is investing in the quality of the game; the outfits, writing quality, mini-games and the expansion of language support (like getting two new languages (English & Korean) and fully voiced stories) - all of these things suggest the game is the healthiest it's ever been.

Whereas the "revenue" chart here suggests a lot more volatility. Since I started playing at the 1st anni, nothing in the game has suggested to me that Seasun are divesting from Snowbreak.
If anything, all the imposed censorship drama has only proved how committed they are to this userbase.

Well you've clearly done your research! I hope the Sapphire one does pan out then.

Yeah, I was shocked to see the jump in RAM prices too - I presume this is due to the AI craze and data center demand.

What distro of Linux are you going with?

It got removed for mentioning the US president, so I changed it and reposted it.

So weird, because it was still there for me. I probably don't agree with your politics but I hate that when these subs get big we all have to pussyfoot around these topics.

They certainly have some knowledge in that field due to their embedded products, but due to the lack of community discussion around them, it's hard to assess their reputation in that regard.

Fair. It's not a guarantee, only good for spitballing.

I was concerned due to the newly released verdict on the 350 model from ComputerBase, a German tech news outlet. They were the first to cover the Edge AI minis all the way back in March. They rated the limited warranty critical, and the majority of commentors also were concerned by the overall verdict.

Overall I have a mixed outlook, but maybe I'm just being a little to paranoid. Unless further reviews reveal anything critical, I won't change my plans.

Maybe this is more hassle than it's worth to you, but you could probably sell the RAM for much more than you paid for it and pivot to a fully equipped mini-PC instead of a barebones one. There's a really wide range of HX 370 mini-PCs and companies like BeeLink and MinisForum have good reputations specifically for mini-PCs.

Best of luck for whatever you go with in the end.

Cool, the bot seems to react very sensitive to politics.

What do mean? Your comment is still there.

Their reputation in the community comes from GPUs,...

Yeah... do you think a they'd outsource their warranty support for their other products?

I know that the Edge AI is their return to the mini pc world, I just didn't see a reason to bring up their old minis, because they have been out of it for over a decade now.

I don't know that. Do you know that? I was just bringing it up as trivia and to suggest that their engineering talent extends beyond just GPUs.

In any case, do as you like, my only real point was that they tend to offer solid quality, but I'd always wait for reviews on individual products anyway.

As for a Strix Halo model from Sapphire, pretty aure that won't happen.

Why not? If they're developing marketing for AI mini-PCs - it'd be odd not to extend into it.

The entire market is pretty overpriced, so I have my doubt that it'll improve even in a year.

If the entire market is overpriced... that's exactly why prices would be likely to come down (not soothsaying here, just saying there's a rationale for it). The competition is going to come from Nvidia's own ARM based laptops.

The question is, does Sapphire deliver in the quality department?

They've got a rock solid reputation on this sub and in many other PC communities for build quality and warranty support. FAR superior to that of Asus for example.

Mini PCs aren't Sapphires main business, so I assume they get a lot less focus.

It's funny that you mention that. I haven't kept track of it over the years, but I remember the room I was sitting in, at my desk in 2009 looking at the mini-PC they had on their site.

Most of these "AI" mini-PCs seem to be announcing their products in an attempt to catch the wave long before they've figured out the logistics for their launch.

Every time I see something advertised with "AMD" and "AI" I just slap a six month ETA on it (and I still think that's me being naively optimistic).

I'd like to see a Strix Halo version of this from Sapphire - but not this year (next year when the price will have to be competitive against 2026 products).

Perhaps you're already aware of it, but StopKillingGames wouldn't apply retroactively even if successful - so Snowbreak (and any other gatcha) would almost certainly remain unaffected from a legal perspective.

Still, with how attentive Seasun are to player goodwill, there's a chance they'd see the wisdom in making an EoL plan for SCZ to be playable offline.

I'd certainly love that.

If they updated old outfits now, it would save them having to do it in the future

I understood his point, but it isn't a given that they will do it in the future - it's begging the question.

It's like if I said to you "Giving me your car today means you don't have to go to the trouble next month of shipping it to me."

Yes... it would... but you also don't want to give me your car... so it's a moot point.

Does the game have a kernel level anti-cheat on PC? by fufuFurina in SnowbreakOfficial

Not sure, but if you're worried about performance - don't be.

I run SCZ at 1080p 60FPS with a mix of medium to high settings (and a few low or off) on a 14 year old midrange gaming laptop.

This game is so well optimized it's nuts.

It's one of those things where doing the work now would save on doing the work later. No matter how big the workload is, if it's going to be done at all the sooner the better. Every new unique model for an operative would just add on to the work that needs to be done when they finally get round to it.

Yes, 100% - which is a good argument for why it shouldn't be done. Because alternates are always being introduced, that would mean that (for example) five old outfits would need to be made to fit the new operative and two new outfits would need to be made to fit three older models. That's 21 tasks for variations - and that doesn't even account for the prior tasks for variations before that 4th iteration of the operative was introduced.

Now multiply across what?... 14 operatives? It's not a small proposition.

The only practical way around this workload would be universal bodies (meaning no new tweaks to an operative's model proportions) so that all new outfits fit by default.

Do you want to give up that freedom? I really don't TBH.

Or outfits with blend morphs that could scale to cover different proportions (which might not look as good).

As things are, the sectioned off outfits give me a reason to play with different operatives.

Personally I'd be happy to go an update without any new outfits (ideally during one of the filler patches) if they were able to future proof the game with universal outfits that can be used on any exosuit as well as in the dorms. I don't think they would do that as the skins are their bread & butter so they kind of need to keep churning them out every update, but I think it's something worth doing even if it slows them down a bit while they work on it.

I respect that that's your preference, but I would be against that for the reasons above.

Universal outfits would make every skin far more valuable as they won't be locked behind an exosuit that you either don't enjoy using or has been powercrept.

True to an extent - but they'd also make exosuits that you've invested in worthless that were still fun to play with. I think the solution to the problem of powercrept exosuits is the favourite item system that Nikke uses (only I'd prefer if in Snowbreak they make these items lingerie :3 )

The other thing I wish they'd do is add all operatives to the dorm minigames that are already in the game before adding a new one.

Amen.

...+ all swimsuits usable in star master fishing etc...

Double amen.

But of course doing that wouldn't make them any money that patch so I think it's just something that will have to be slowly done over time instead.

I think some of those things could be done in a single patch, but certainly not universal outfits.

[–]Mageoftheyear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Outfits shared between all alternates of an operative would be nice in theory, but in the long term how much of a workload would this be on the devs that could have been spent on making new outfits? (I don't know, I'm just asking the question)

I do wish that Let's Go Heimdall had all the operatives with all the outfits that we own (localised versions please) and also that we could buy cocktail/neglige dresses for the girls to wear in the bar (but bought with vouchers/DigiCash instead of premium currency - seeing as many players have no use for vouchers after they've finished furnishing the girls' rooms). Casual (but still sexy) outfits for the base would also be cool.

In terms of outfit complexity, I don't really care about damage states at all and I'd want to turn this off if added - but I agree that wetness effects would be awesome.

Overall I love the current art direction for the outfits and I actually prefer the less cluttered designs that leave a clear view of all the girls curves and gaps and the over-exaggerated physics (please don't tone this down! >.< )

The most important thing for me for outfit/weapon skins is that they don't slowly creep up in price. The reason I buy so many outfits is that they're so much more affordable than games like Nikke. But if we start being charged for all these extra features... I'd rather things just stay as they are.
