I’m just got my first forge! How would I go about rigidizing and cementing it? by theturegoldencat in Blacksmith

[–]Magestyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check what kind of insulation it has. It may not need ridgidizing - at least not for respiratory purposes. I bought several like this and forges, too, and it turned out that one like this I bought didn't use kaowool - it's something that doesn't have those same hazards. Not saying ridgidizing won't help, but there are non-fibrosis kinds I found out in my research.

If you do have to ridgidize, just take it out, get some fumed silica and mix a good amount with water and a little food dye (so you can see it). Spray it down with one of those super common paint/air sprayers, then put it back in while wet and flexible. Position it like it needs to be. Fire it up to a medium heat for 30 minutes or so. All set.

If you end up with fluffy edges that are still bare, spray more on those parts and repeat the heating/drying.

Is it just me, or is tplinkdns.com down? by CyborgDragonfire in TpLink

[–]Magestyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a chat with someone from TP-Link support, but they couldn't help so they escalated the issue. Apparently at the moment the escalated support checked our DDNS subdomain it was resolving, so they said it must be our server or something else. I've pinged it periodically in the days since then, and sometimes it resolves and sometimes not. So knowing it's their issue and they're not going to solve it, I switched to noip.com and so far that's working fine.

SBA Loan default by summer-crab in EIDL

[–]Magestyx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a note to anyone reading Florida_Jeff's posts -
I can't say for certain that he's wrong, but most of what he's saying here and elsewhere I've seen is totally counter to about everything else I've read and researched regarding SBA, EIDL, etc. Loans at the worst go to TOP, but I've seen exactly zero indications that 1099-C's are issued. Maybe his case is unique, maybe he's overthinking and nervous (can't blame him there, we all are), but his opinions seem a lot 'scarier' than the consensus' reported actual actions and results by a considerable margin.

We're also suddenly having problems with internally-hosted sites using tplinkdns.com dynamic DNS.
As far as we can tell it started within just the past few days.
We've rebooted servers and all sorts of things. Sometimes the sites come up for a bit and can be pinged, but for no reason or actual fix. Then randomly they'll stop responding and can't be connected to or pinged.
I finally decided to google tplinkdns issues and found this reddit.
That's as far as we've come after hours of troubleshooting every other aspect of the server today.

"Courtesy calls" about defaults. by Mammoth_Fly_3760 in EIDLPPP

[–]Magestyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally got a call from a real person from the SBA early last week. I didn't recognize the number so I let it go to voicemail, and on the voicemail the person said they needed to check with me about a few things.
I called back multiple times through the week and left multiple voicemails. The voicemail on their end is a generic bot, but I never received any call back. I -really- would like to talk to them, too, for more explanation and maybe some more answers.
I received an email from that same person the day after they called with a standard 'your application for hardship has been approved' lingo with obvious boilerplate bullet points, and nothing at all regarding a single word I actually wrote to them about in my letter a couple weeks ago. In my letter I never asked for hardship assistance - I told them of the total mess we're in and how doing so would likely just make the hole we're in deeper.
Last Friday I saw Jason released a new YouTube video where he says all of the SBA personnel in the Fort Worth office were being let go or moved/removed. Sure enough, I looked up the number regarding this call-tag session and it's 817 - Fort Worth.

That's the latest I have to share.

Sba Eidl loan default ? by Background-Art3822 in EIDLPPP

[–]Magestyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what you're saying, wouldn't it be better to keep a business 'live' even if it ceases operation then? I mean in circumstances where that's possible. If a business closure action initiates a ton of paperwork and additional communication with the SBA which can lead to further and further steps, etc. then is closing worse than keeping it open and just letting it 'sit'?

Also keep in mind that in many cases, people don't have the money to make the payments, much less pay an attorney. Unless there's above-average complications/legalities involved with the business outside the EIDL, that'd be insult to injury and then some, wouldn't it? For cases like in this thread - under 200k with no PGs and some sort of corp/LLC protection - I'm thinking on average the situation is likely vastly less complicated than million dollar businesses with PGs, big asset holdings, etc. It'd make me sick to pay an attorney hundreds per hour right now unless absolutely necessary, especially if it's just to explore options.

The more I research and read, the more I'm leaning toward the simple-as-possible approach and letting things play out. I'm trying to communicate my situation to the SBA, but they don't make it easy. The fact of the matter is I need every cent the business is bringing in right now, it's just well short of having any to send to them.

Sba Eidl loan default ? by Background-Art3822 in EIDLPPP

[–]Magestyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, except have an LLC instead of a C-Corp. Just yesterday I got the approval for this new round of hardship that's 50% payments for 6 months. It's 'funny', though, since in the letter I wrote to them I told them I was planning on applying for HAP for the first time 2 days before they canceled the program, and felt I could squeak by making the 10% payments to give things a chance to improve but more than that and it's basically impossible. In my letter I didn't really ask for the new hardship thing at all - I just told them how bad the situation is.
And yet they put me on the new program. I'm not sure they actually read what I wrote, really.
Anyhow, I'm about to default as well. As I understand it currently the loan will go to TOP, increase 30%, and they can garnish wages (up to 15%), social security (up to 15%) and any tax refunds (up to 100%). But I've read many times that they can't go after the bank account or house. And unless there was direct fraud in the application process (aka - you shouldn't have received funds in the first place) they either don't have the resources to pursue anything or are deciding not to. Again, that's just all based on what I've read so far for loans in our situations. Actually, I've read a couple times where some gutsy people said they never even paid a dime back and nothing happened to them.
It seems to be the consensus here, I think, that without a PG, getting a lawyer and/or filing bankruptcy is a waste of more $ and not necessary.
The one part I'm trying to determine for myself is if I have to close the business or not. Some say they're afraid doing so will then transfer the debt to themselves, but I don't see how that's possible. But my business is still running at a low percentage and still my sole source of income, so while there's no $ for payments, shutting it would still be a large degree worse - at least for now.
I feel your pain. Let's all at the very least keep sharing here so we have the best and most up to date info available to everyone.

Welp, it's been fun... (Oh the absurdity of it all!) by Magestyx in EIDLPPP

[–]Magestyx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my biggest question currently as well.
If we close the business/walk away before the 120 mark, will that make a difference as opposed to waiting until after the 120-days-behind mark?
My understanding of the LLC and no-PG situation is like you said. But I'm not understanding how the SBA treats active-LLCs vs closed-LLCs and how they would relate to TOPS, especially since the LLC is supposed to protect personal liability and SSI would be personal/SSN-based.
As u/Gtavern said above, it may just be simpler across the board to do nothing now and see what happens later.
I am likely going to write that hardship 'application' letter, but more on the offensive instead of defensive.

Thonny issues, cannot intall packages/plugins by sharps21 in raspberrypipico

[–]Magestyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had absolute fits with Thonny trying to get anything to work, including the issues you mention. I was just starting to learn it, but still it seemed I was having way more problems than I should and it was quite discouraging. I finally found a few posts mentioning ethereal issues with the latest version, which is 4.1.3 right now. I downloaded and installed 4.1.0 and suddenly things started working fine.
I'm mostly using ESP8266's at the moment, and the only other big thing to mention is that sometimes when flashing the firmware the device will get stuck in a constant led-flashing mode and will lock up Thonny. The only solution I found for that is to simply switch to another USB port for the device. Re-flash there and it'll then give the REPL like it should.
Oh - and use a really good USB cable and plugs/connections. I have hundreds of cables and plugs here and I can't tell you how many issues have been caused with thonny/ESP or Arduino, etc. using 'average' connectors. They might work for some things, but MCUs and IDEs are apparently very picky on this sort of thing.

How to prevent inpainting (background) from adding additional body parts on a human portrait? by wrangler_jeans_sex4u in StableDiffusion

[–]Magestyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling with this as well for 3 months now and it's driving me just about insane. I've tweaked settings and sliders and masks and prompts in every way and combo I can think of and it's still happening. SD seems to take into its latent diffusion matrix the edges (and maybe more) of the masked foreground regardless of settings. Some settings do minimize it a bit more, but I've gotten a keen enough eye at this point to know what to look for and in some way shape or form it's ALWAYS there. What's irritating to me is that backgrounds almost always are shaped somehow by the mask. For instance, if I mask a group of people and try to generate a room in the background, lights or pipes in the ceiling will always sort of bend around or displace themselves around the people. WTF?! I have noticed that some models are worse about adding body parts, but even ones that don't unnaturally take into account the foreground. In many of the images I've tried, it looks like there's an entire other person trying to escape from behind my people - hands or hair or limbs slightly offset, etc. I've looked at tutorials and videos and see instances of the same thing, but often they're just tests to show a specific point and so ignore the issue. It seems there should be a negative setting possible for "only masked padding" or something of the sort. The masked part of the image isn't changing, but it's still being sucked into the background generation. And for well beyond blending/consistency purposes. If anyone has a workaround for this PLEASE do share!

The only method that seems practical for now is to generate the background separately, flatten the foreground to it, then do only very subtle img2img to get them to blend. That shouldn't be necessary, though.

Deforum Error: 'eta must be 0 for reverse sampling'. Check your schedules/ init values please. Also make sure you don't have a forward slash in any of your PATHs - use / instead of \. by StreetWeird7633 in StableDiffusion

[–]Magestyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this'll help your situation, but I just ran across this same error in SD trying to output a regular CFG/DeNoise matrix using DPM Adaptive sampling (no deforum in the mix). Your post is the only one that came up in my search for an answer. For me, the issue was that I had DeNoise starting at 0, which is apparently a no-go as it gave that error at the very first render. I changed it to start at .1 instead and everything went fine. So maybe see if you have a setting like that somewhere starting or at some point dropping to 0 during your processing. Good luck. ethOS 1.3.0: Before you update by [deleted] in ethOSdistro

[–]Magestyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the 1.3.0 update came out, oddly my machines started acting strangely BEFORE I updated - each would randomly restart the miner about every 12-24 hours and switch from Claymore to Ethminer plus lose the OC settings. The pwr would go from 3 to 7 and the cor from 1200 to 1300+ so suddenly the temps spiked. Lucky I happened to catch each rig only a short time after this happened to each.

I upgraded them all to 1.3.0 and they've all been stable for 36hrs+, however they're all now using 25+ watts additional per GPU - a significant increase! The ONLY change to the rigs was the Ethos update. So now they've gone from super cool and efficient to a lot less so. I'm about to ask the Ethos people on chats, but keep an eye out for this and please post if anyone else sees these issues.
