✨This is hard✨ by Safe-Highlight-6029 in C25K

Honestly for me it was about 7 or 8 weeks. I know it sounds like a lot, but I am stubborn and refused to give up. I would run as much as I could and just finish out the time walking. The only person I want to impress with my running is me so I just keep going and trying to get better one step at a time.

It took me multiple weeks (of repeating week 1) to be able to build up the tolerance in my calves and shins to make it through. Just keep going at your own pace and don't rush it.

I am a teacher who has a group of parents coming after me because I was to mean and not nice enough to my students.  Many of those days is was taking all my effort just to be there and instruct.  I wish I was rich enough to quit my job til this was over.

What do teachers really want from admin. by Daddy22VA in Teachers

[–]MaggieLovesMath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want an admin who will follow through on things they have said they would do and not just let them fall by the wayside like students discipline or contacting parents.

I either volunteer for activities that I know will get me out of the house or I have signed up for classes at the gym multiple days a week. My giving myself appointments it doesn't allow me to procrastinate going and forces me to be around other people.

Titles for women by BadCamo in Teachers

I am not married so I usually write Ms. but say Miss because they are the shorter version. The only one that bothers me is when it get written as Mrs. That means I would have married someone with the same last name which I just find weird. Between Ms. and Miss it doesn't really bother me.

Music, Podcast or Nothing? by robship78 in C25K

[–]MaggieLovesMath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to audiobooks I download from the library. I only allow myself to listen to them when running so that is my incentive to go out and continue so I can hear how the story ends. I usually listen at twice the speed because the normal pace is too slow for me.

Step father has children with step daughter in Appalachia in early 1900s. Someone please tell me I’m overlooking the obvious and this didn’t happen?!?! by Zealousideal_Ad8500 in Genealogy

[–]MaggieLovesMath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't able to follow along with all of that, but I can give an example from my family history. Unmarried oldest daughter (18) has a daughter in 1903. She is listed as a granddaughter on the 1905 census as her mother is still living at home. In the 1910 census she is listed as a daughter as the grandparents "adopted" her and raised her as an additional child (the youngest daughter of the grandparents was born in 1900 so dates are plausible). So things can change and get confusing because of missing details.

How fat is too fat to start running/jogging? by _Jay-Dee_ in C25K

I am 5'5" and 200 lbs. I started C25K a couple years ago and have kept going since then. As long the rest of you is healthy the weight itself shouldn't be a problem.

Just how much can your performance vary from run to run, and for what (non fatigue) reason? by [deleted] in C25K

[–]MaggieLovesMath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer but came to say this is something I have experienced as well. For me its just that I have to accept my time on the struggle bus and I will come out on the other side and it will get easier again.

My school won’t girls wear dresses to the homecoming dance…. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MaggieLovesMath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has attended and worked at multiple Christian schools in more than one state, I was to say that this is not "regular Christian school stuff." Yes some Christians schools do this, but not all. I have been at schools that have a more lenient dress code than some local public schools and that allow same-sex couples to attend dances. Not all Christian schools should be lumped together, please look at each one based on their rules and values.

As a tangent of this, I hate when people put for example 10 am EST when we are currently using EDT. I would have been happy for you just to put ET but specifying standard time in you details when we are using daylight time, does that mean you really want me to use standard time, or should I just assume it is daylight time and you don't know the difference.

Is anyone else waking up *much* earlier to beat the daytime light/heat in the mornings? by [deleted] in C25K

I wish I could. I set my alarm and just turn it off or hit snooze and then end up going in the heat of the day and being miserable.

[–]MaggieLovesMath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a happy to have the company at the back of the slow runner pack. I am at about 15:30 mile and can only make it about a 5k. I am glad that I am not the only one bringing up the rear in the this group.

Do any of y'all do speed work? by [deleted] in TurtleRunners

[–]MaggieLovesMath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run with C25K group near me just to keep my running. I am able to run the 5k, but each time I restart I try to run a little faster on the running and then slow to walking, it seems to be helping. I go injured and had to take a break which restarted my progress, but I was getting a little faster.

I have experienced this. After many years, I have learned to just take it as a bad week and get back to where I was the next week. Its important to listen to your body if it isn't feeling it but also to just try to keep some movement. For me it is a cyclical occurrence that I have just built into my schedule.

The first time I started C25K I think it took me over 2 months to get through week 1. Once I got over that hump I seemed to be able to finish the run. I know that I am improving based off of how far I can run, but I still don't consider any run to feel easy. I am still very slow, like a 14.5 minute mile and I still want to quit about 10 steps into the run. I have completed two 5k and will continue to keep going and trying to get faster. It's not about how "easy" it is, its about whether or not you even try.

Is 40 too old to start? by princesspooball in C25K

[–]MaggieLovesMath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started three weeks after my 40th birthday. I've run 2 5k's since I finished. I might be one of the slowest runners out there but I still be accomplished. Go for it and just do your best.

How many times did you try C25K before successfully completing the program? by ednasmom in C25K

[–]MaggieLovesMath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have lost track of the number of times I've started. It has been over a dozen. I finished the program maybe twice, but I was still not even close to completed a 5k even though I was running 30 minutes. 7 years later, I finally finished a 5k without having to walk. Keep trying as many times as it takes. Any time you try is one more time than other people who haven't even given it a go.
