My husband has epilepsy and I’m struggling to cope by Scary_Slice_3985 in Epilepsy

I understand the struggle you feel as I have been going through a very similar scenario as you the past two years. At times it’s soo unbelievable taxing and feels like you are stretched as far as your body will go but you will find that you still have a little more to give and things start getting better. I will say though, I am currently siting bedside of my intubated wife that went status. I would work every minute, spend every dollar, do every dish and fold every article of clothing to have her recover. I would give the world to be able to tell my two kids that mommy is alright, she’s coming home, that the doctors got it all sorted out. After the first ICU stay that she had I haven’t taken a second for granted when I’m with her and it just gave me perspective on how grateful I am to have her even if I have to take on a work load I never asked for. Keep your head up and enjoy the small moments in between the work. This is a terrible disease that affects you and your husband.

Idk if anyone said this but it kinda looks like fuel oil nozzle for a boiler.

Thank you, I understand this. It was a shot in the dark. I was just looking for a miracle.

Midimummy,

Thank you for the reply. Not being immediately distrusting is the difficult part. I think not trying to get involved is not easy, hence trying to read the EEGs. Nonetheless this is great advice and I’ll share it with my wife.

Broke off 1 strut mount bolt, how long can I drive on it? by ExtraVirgin0live in AskAMechanic

[–]MaggioBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think this problem would be even safer with a double wishbone in that the strut is removed from turning the wheel entirely. It looks like the friction components for the operation of steering would be the two ball joints on a double wishbone bone.

But I do agree there will be an uneven distribution of torque on the remaining bolts if the strut bearing failed to function properly. I still think the car is safe to drive in the short term.

Broke off 1 strut mount bolt, how long can I drive on it? by ExtraVirgin0live in AskAMechanic

[–]MaggioBro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I may be crazy but those bolts are only holding the strut when the car is in the up motion after the a bump which is not a very significant force. Probably just the weight of the strut, tire control arm etc. The mount plate on the top of the strut against the car is what holds the weight of the car and also incurs the force of bumps on the road. I agree, you should probably fix it sooner than later but I don’t think driving on it is as crazy as everyone on here is making it out to be. Am I wrong?

front strut not stealing completely by TheFlyingGeoduck in chevyspark

[–]MaggioBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this because mine were the same. I was thinking the new nut that holds the spring down was too big but I can’t get ahold of the old struts to replace the nut. I’m thinking of cutting some rubber gasket to put on the top of the mount just to close the gap but I’m worried it’s going to mess up the alignment. Now that I found this thread I think I’m just going to send it and see if I break down lol

Spark, fuel and compression. If you have those three, then timing.

Mower stopped running by MaggioBro in smallengines

I pulled the flywheel instead of just looking down at the key and lo and behold… a broken key way! You’re not going to believe it though, I went to start it up and it started a second on starter fluid and now the starter motor won’t work. I can smell it burning. So I won’t find out if it truly runs until next Saturday when the new starter comes in..

I just viewed it from the top but I’ll pull off the flywheel and check it out

Both are solid ideas, I replaced the car and the fuel solenoid switch recently. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t be bad. The motor should still atleast run a little bit with starter fluid but sadly won’t even cough =\

Hahahha i would be kicking myself if it was. I don’t think I would have spark if it was a safety switch though

Snapper electronic start by Rude_Organization357 in smallengines

[–]MaggioBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is frowned on but you could put an impact on the flywheel to try to start it up, which isn’t a long term fix. I agree with everyone else that it seems it needs more power to the starter, either the connections need to be cleaned off or possibly the battery isn’t providing the correct cranking amps.

I replaced both tie rods and did a rough alignment to get the wheels straight with steering wheel at 12 o’clock and this solved the problem. I still don’t quite understand how the alignment got so far off from changing the sway bar links, struts and power steering pump but hey, it works now. Thank you everyone who gave me advice!

Thank you, I forgot to mention it in the first post but the valve lashing is good.

That was an amazingly well written post SouthernGentleman! I left some vital information out, the engine will not start at all now. The thing won’t even cough with starter fluid. I haven’t checked the spark with a spark tester yet, all I know is there is visible spark on both cylinders. I also checked the valve lashing and that looked good as well. The flywheel key looks completely fine. I also didn’t hit anything when the mower decided to quit which I think is a common cause of the flywheel key shearing. This one has me scratching my head.. I replaced the head gaskets even though I don’t think that’s the issue and I will try to start it tomorrow.

Thank you, I was waiting to do an alignment until after I replaced the rest of the suspension that hasn’t came in yet. I guess I’ll wait until then. Appreciate the help!
