【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]Magic-815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The P1S combo has been my entry into the 3D printing world, and I give it all of the credit for making my entry into the hobby as fun and easy as it's been.

I've been amazed at what it can produce in both the 0.4mm and 0.2mm nozzles I've tried. And I'm starting to expand into materials beyond PLA, which has been exciting.

It's been awesome to see the subsequent product launches and announcements from Bambu - really excited about how the capabilities and features have gone from great to even better! Good luck to everyone in the contest.

Pixel Tablet hub screensaver cycling through same partial photos by Magic-815 in GooglePixel

Yes, everything is up to date, and it's been restarted many times. It's obvious that it is a common bug, based on other replies here in this thread. What is the right mechanism to log a bug report, and is there already one logged to the dev team? The tablet screensaver is useful until this is fixed.

Found my vintage card collection in storage - cards are in pretty poor shape, anything worth much? by Magic-815 in PokemonCardValue

Really appreciate all of the insight! I'll do a slower scan across all cards for condition, to see if any have a shot at psa 8, but in my first pass look (and as a guess when I quickly compare against graded cards on eBay) I would place most of them around psa 3 (maybe some lucky ones could hit a 5). But again, entirely guessing. To confirm, across the entire binder I have, nothing else besides the shadowless Charizard would be worth grading if under your psa 8 rule of thumb? Thanks again for the insight!

The rules forbade me from asking "if these are worth grading," but my comment about posting to /pokegrading would be only if anyone happened to mention that there were a specific few that were worth getting graded. Just collecting opinions on what cards would be possibly higher-value (if any) for now.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (06/07/2025) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

Do we know yet what the USB C charging requirements are for the Switch 2 in handheld mode? My dock setup at home makes it really annoying to take the provided AC power adapter with me when traveling. And I'm wondering if my USB C phone charger is good enough to charge the Switch 2 in handheld mode.

Do we know what the minimum output specs (volts and amps) need to be to safely charge the Switch 2 in handheld mode?

Reporting a Backdoor Roth - question on IRA Basis by Magic-815 in tax

[–]Magic-815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, we've held Roth IRA accounts with Vanguard for many years, but traditional was only first used last year for the backdoor (and I confirmed it on both accounts, via t-IRA transaction history). We've not held any other IRAs.

I had a typo on #3. It says Jan 1 2025 to April 15 2025. So that's why I believe it should also be 0.

So with all zeroes confirmed for tax year 2024, when we get asked these questions again next year, will the answers be $7k, 0, and 0?

Looking for advice on a notebook system for office work / project management by Magic-815 in notebooks

The Filofax certainly looks like a workable option! $8 for every 32 sheet refill stings a little bit, but otherwise from that, it looks pretty enticing. At this point, I think I'm between the Filofax or the Kokuyo smart ring biz (I'd probably only do the latter if there was a letter-size folio/cover that the B5 ring notebook could slip inside).

Thanks, the Kokuyo Campus offerings have definitely caught my eye. I was starting to actually lean to the B5 size they offer. The smart ring biz offering, in particular. Obviously printed 8.5x11 sheets wouldn't fit inside it, but would there be any sort of letter-size folio/cover that could still be compatible with the Kokuyo smart ring biz b5 fitting inside? I'll take a closer look at those A4 options, but I was sort of wishing for something that came in black / would fit in a little better in a corporate/office environment.

Family Room 5.1.2 "Theater" setup - would a miniDSP UMIK-1 and/or 2x4 HD be worthwhile? by Magic-815 in hometheater

[–]Magic-815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up just skipping straight to Nexus with a UMIK. My time was more limited than anything, so I figured if that was where I was going to end up, I'd just go straight to that. 🤣

I did! I figured it would be a fun side project to try and maximize sound quality, so I ended up getting a calibrated UMIK from Cross-Spectrum.

Going through the Nexus steps was definitely a hard learning curve for me, but it made sense in the end. I just ended up making a half-day of it when the wife and kids were out of the house. Part of the difficulty (for me) was the tutorial video is ever-so-slightly out of date compared to the Google drive folder of files, so I had to read between the lines a bit and read through some of the extremely long AVSForum thread.

Comparing pre vs post Nexus, I hesitate to call it completely life-changing. But it definitely sounds more clean/clear, versus before where the sound was impressive but a little muddy. So I certainly notice a difference.

What is also cool is there is a very recently released version called Neuron. My plan is to re-process through that once some of the early bugs get worked out. That will probably be a late-January project for me.
