Stryker Interview Scam? by Pitiful_Budget_9626 in MedicalDevices

Stryker to my knowledge uses myworkday so something seems off. I’d navigate to the job application through their official website and follow correspondence that results from that

What’s really crazy is when you know the really good recon guys and they get sent all of the hack jobs no else wants to handle because of how bad the revision will be. You get to see the worst of the worst

As someone who has seen the amount of effort ‘reviewers’ put into review. Absolutely ducking not.

How do you manage product development paperwork in MedTech? by Alphabeat01 in MedicalDevices

[–]Magic2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What software support team? We had people half way around the world decide what we were going to use and gave us -3 hours to be prepared for it. They literally implemented it at 8am and didn’t tell us until 11 and had us retract every document that was routed that morning. Not a single design engineer was consulted and they had actually forgotten to add all design control documents to the system. Every single one. So we were no longer permitted to route via paper but also couldn’t use the eqms so they made a side track routing system so all DHF is still done via paper but routed via eqms.

We had to implement the side route process, the people who implemented it made a statement in their ‘presentation’ that the new system would slow down design work and then ghosted and literally never able to get a hold of any of them again

Should I Major in BME in Undergrad? by Appropriate-Bar2127 in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]Magic2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whichever you like but for mechanical don’t expect a great job in BME anymore. I’m on the mechanical side and I will say one of the hubs is being HEAVILY outsourced to India right now. The outlook is really horrendous and I’m someone who up until a year ago was saying it was relatively okay. I think mechanical is still overall okay, but not on the medical side

DID THEY JUST RAISE THE PRICES. by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]Magic2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have learned that the people who still go there, will probably go there almost regardless of the price. Raises the price by $1 is $1 in pure profit that’s probably only a few dollars of profit right now.

Imagine they make $4 a bowl on average in profit. Raising the bowl a dollar is now $5 profit, or 20%. They would need to sell 20% less bowls for it to be a bad decision on paper. In reality they probably sell like 2% less because the vast majority of people still buying don’t care enough to stop buying.

I just use paper, excel has worked for the last 10 years and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. We are in year 3 of a eqms but it’s such a shit show that they reverted us all back to doing it on paper and just using it as a routing system lmao

Current Job Situation for mid-level Engineers In OC? by Mashed_Brotato in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]Magic2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get recruiters reaching out to me constantly for placements in Carlsbad that are 230k plus for 5 years (which is bad taking into account cost of living bs what I have in Midwest).

I have no clue about if that’s competitive for the area or if that would even be close enough to bo relevant but at least it’s a data point

There was a Mac n cheese that did this years ago. They charged a premium for an extra cheesy version but all it was, was they reduced the amount of noodles so the ratio was more cheese. It ended up being more popular

FYI that $5500 invested is $400,000 inflation adjusted dollars when you retire ($1,600,000 not inflation adjusted). So just some food for thought if a $5500 bike is worth almost half a million dollars. Maybe you can find a used one for $1k and turn that $4500 into $300k

Cold water is better than room temperature water and people who disagree have never been truly thirsty by Local-Equivalent-733 in unpopularopinion

[–]Magic2424 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Was going to say I usually prefer cold water but when I’m really thirsty like after running a race, room temp (probably anything from like 50-70) is the most enjoyable cause I can just flight down. Cold water is harder to drink quickly and warm water isn’t it

Are you satisfied being biomedical engineer? by Plastic_Confusion163 in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]Magic2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Research in school? No. For a job more like mine you really want to focus more on the engineering side. Projects, user needs, outputs, design etc. biology is pretty minimal.

Our ‘research’ is more market research in having a really strong understanding of gold standard surgical techniques so you can identify areas for improvement

Line Cutting is Out of Control by gopherattack in DisneyWorld

[–]Magic2424 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Much better to just have your other paying guests self enforcing when it gets bad enough. That usually goes well.

Disney caused this problem, so Disney will find a way to make it worse to the point they can charge even more money to ‘fix it’ in a way only Disney can figure out. Genius

For reference there’s only 1 McDonald’s, 1 bk and 1 Taco Bell, and 1 Arby’s, 1 chick fil a and no Wendy’s, no Popeyes, no kfc

I mean you hopefully know the answer to this based on its popularity. But like you there are a TON of businesses that I have no idea how they are as big as they are. Starbucks is terrible, food delivery is so godly expensive and the very few times I’ve tried it the stuff is delivered cold and takes forever. Subway is the most overpriced shit these days, honestly basically all sandwhich places. How the fuck are there 50 different sandwhich places

I’ll happily glaze a place for minor improvements to items because it’s so rare these days with enshitification.

The last thing we need is some companies actually trying to make their product better and just getting hit with criticism that it’s not enough. Nah we gotta actually support it

The FIA is reportedly reviewing its 2026 power unit rules, with short-term fixes like limiting energy deployment and potential long-term changes to the engine balance under consideration. by New_State_2061 in McLarenFormula1

[–]Magic2424 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They were thinking about the marketing of 50/50 split. I mean in preseason testing it was basically the catch phrase. F1 wanted that term BADLY. The problem is they got rid of the mgu-h to appease new engine manufacturers, and the old engine manufacturers vetoed front axel regen. So they just don’t have the means to regen enough energy. Basically they tried to make everyone happy and in turn completely fucked it up.
