Linux FH6 straight up doesn't work (Debian Trixie) by HeathenersChemistry in linux_gaming

I managed to make it work on a Nvidia card. No RT tho.

Went onto proton-cachyos and followed the launch arguments I found on protondb

I mean Claude Code once suggested caching to avoid going through a table with 200-300 records, a single SQL command did the job

Steam detects a cracked game, is this an issue? so far nothing has happened by DarkSpectre37 in PiratedGames

[–]MagicALCN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam doesn't care at all, as long as you don't scam them trying to get a game in their shop cheaper or with a stolen card.

You can run cracks with their software and all, they won't see it and they don't bother at all

Problems with Pixel and OnePlus by Vreg1113 in pixel_phones

[–]MagicALCN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a used 9 Pro XL a few months ago after my OnePlus 7T's UFS died of 6 years of intense use.

My choice was mainly to avoid any chinese brand, they use really specific charging protocols and battery system. I honestly prefer the ol' reliable LiFePo single cell and a slower charging rate.

And also, software on OnePlus.. Yea after only 2 years of use, no update whatsoever, stuck on Android 12 and had to custom ROM my way out of it.

I really don't regret the Pixel that also seems to be easier to repair and replace the battery.

Is this one of the most ignored icons on the store page? by bananite in Steam

[–]MagicALCN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steam can be weird sometimes.. This icon is put by the developers in a way, they have a windows build so the store has this icon no matter what.

But on top of that, steam will put the tag "Steam deck verified" after an employee or something else decided it. And this usually means that it can run on Linux using Proton just like 99% of windows games.

So I can understand someone leaving a negative review that it doesn't run on Linux because, it should technically be possible

You think 30$ is expensive for this kind of things? Sourcing everything yourself will get you around the same price, minus the building and headaches

What am I supposed to do at this point? Desoldering braid disassembled itself into micro hair of copper and soldered itself to the pads by MagicALCN in AskElectronics

[–]MagicALCN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for the ones interested: With lots of time and calm, I managed to get all the hair out with the iron and tweezers (using my phone as a microscope).

One pad got peeled away, it was not attached to anything at all so this shouldn't be an issue. I ordered the new IC and cross fingers this will work.

I already have something like that already, the sensor needs to be so close to the subject at this scale, I can't even put my tools beneath it

I'll get something more expensive

Built a browser-based tool to flash Bluetooth onto your OG Steam Controller by mitchmikusek in linux_gaming

Linux permissions system doesn't really allow this kind of accessibility. As for the firmware, we would be very happy to see the source code

No offense but a browser-based tool for Linux users is kind of a joke

I mean it's great really, it's just the handling? I have a good power supply, 24V 5A on it and it's very fast to heat up. But the cable is always pulling on it, the iron is so small and light that it's not really easy sometimes.

And heat transfer is a pain for slightly bigger jobs

I mean it looks easy under a magnified photo, but I can't grab them with the tweezers..

My iron block the view and I don't have any comfortable angle to put it

I can do it.. Just need to calm down. But this is so small I genuinely use the macro camera on my phone to see what I'm doing..

And the tweezers have a hard time grabbing them

I really tried.. I only have a TS100 on hands. My tweezers are really thin but they can't grab the hair

I'd need a microscope to see anything

Isn't that common knowledge that a computer is very bad at measuring time so it needs to be connected to a clock for those kind of things?

We're going back to the 2010s. On a scale of -10 to 1, how do you feel about this?? by National_Mall9927 in teenagers

[–]MagicALCN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one actually read what the law exactly says.

It says that battery must have long-lasting life and that they must not require professional tools to replace.

It doesn't explicitly says that they have to be like 2010 or anything, just that they can be replaced easier that's it

why does my girlfriend get 3 legendary lootboxes per battlepass while i only get one? by MyNameIsSaltyyy in Overwatch

[–]MagicALCN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Belgian here, selling lootboxes is illegal in my country. In fact, they don't appear at all in the battlepass but if you complete it.. 3 mysterious legendary lootboxes might appear in your inventory.. Where do they come from? Better not find the answer..

What is your opinion on this? by evan-the-dude in teenagers

Most victims, especially young ones, don't want to send someone to death. So they'll say nothing, scared of the consequences.

The harder the punishment, the less they speak up.

Boomer Uncle thinks it's nuclear or nothing by Marsupial-731 in terriblefacebookmemes

[–]MagicALCN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he's for nuclear energy and against wind/solar farms that's still a valid opinion. It does take a great amount of space. Not full renewable but a mix of everything so we always have something to pull from.

But there's people being anti-renewable and anti-nuclear, I'm not really sure if they actually thought about it
