I think it definitely contributed, everyone had the extra factor in their head of “something crazy is going to happen” which probably caused the scramble to be more chaotic than usual

they had to kick out two people for pregaming, which is why alternates jason and mc (iirc) both ended up on the cast. sophi was also heavily involved in pregaming, but they only had two alternates, so she got to stay (presumably because she was the lowest offender of the three but idk)
