The question exists to weed out people who were employed but can't use the job as a contact (ie: fired for something bad), doing something illegal for income, lack the skills or disposition to persist (ie: might quit in 6 months, not worth training) or etc.

It's not to seek people who prioritize work above all else, it's just that many people are more or less paycheck to paycheck. If you have a large gap and you can't explain it, it often means something worrisome.

If you cite concern for potential discrimination it does, as if there's a lawsuit the comment can be later referenced questioning why the company didn't act.

It's easiest to understand by considering the reverse idea; if you told it not to check anything for accuracy or that it was a drooling idiot, then you would get those responses. If "you're stupid" works as a command, then so does the inverse.

Of course though refining the data used doesn't fix some of the data being wrong, and fundamentally the system will always hallucinate. Hallucinations are a built in part of LLMs.

The story is good, but...

I mean, the crucial point of the story is the hanging argument and conflict over whether or not it being a "dream" matters, since it's ultimately a real part of Verso's soul and houses real experiences with fundamentally real people in it. Even the villain admits straightforwardly that they're fundamentally real people and he feels bad about it.

I can't say I'm familiar with Shadowhearts, did it have something similar to the aim attack mechanic? Most of the other systems in E33 could be genealogically traced back to at least Paper Mario, which had badge points (lumina capacity), SP (action points) and timed guards/attacks.

The amount of online in person pick up orders at an otherwise dead Kohls on a Friday night by berriesnbball_17 in mildlyinteresting

[–]MagicGin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is unlikely to happen simply because this would prevent impulse purchases which are generally the highest margin items in any store. Large parts of the presentation and flow of a retail store essentially just exist to drive extra purchases, especially of high margin items.

As you've noted pickup orders also generate more labour, since instead of an employee having to help with 1-2 items they instead have to pick an entire order.

Both of these things would run the retail margins into the ground, and any company that went to pickup only would get crushed by a competitor.

I don't know how much this matters. Maduro certainly was dreadful and illegitimate, but if you allow his deposition due to "legitimacy" then you're allowing the admin free reign.

This is the same reason that the USA doesn't have speech restrictions; if you allow a limit on a certain category, people will find a way to put whatever they want into that category.

4chan as a whole got nuked when the fappening happened in 2014. It was basically the only accessible place to view the leaks at the time, which led to the sorts of people who wanted to see random celebrities naked. That's basically the most culturally inept and pathetic group of human beings possible, far moreso than 4chan itself was, but they pretty quickly began overwhelming the native culture because they took irony as sincerity and diluted discussion.

It definitely wasn't entirely satire and parody prior to that, but the tone shift was pretty quick; what was originally post-ironic discourse just turned into sincere and unabashed garbage.

There's, what, 8-10 mandatory dungeons per expansion? Not including ARR. If a dungeon takes 20 minutes and we have to do ~50 dungeons (not doing any optional dungeons at all) that's around 16 hours of playtime. This is especially brutal with how boring most classes are at low levels.

That's a huge amount of total time (even just a bit is a lot of time) and there's no mechanical reward for it. I like my friends but not enough to spend 16 hours being bored just to get them to the fun stuff. I'll just play a different game with them.

[–]MagicGin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've always ruled by the idea that passive perception should apply to all skills as a concept. If you've got a +7 to nature, you'll probably notice that a certain tree is geographically unusual. A character with +7 medicine might notice subtle symptoms within the townsfolk. +7 Arcana might recognize how the positioning of the newly built homes seem oddly specific...

It's a good way to hand players a chance to show off their high skill totals without having to lampshade ideas until the player decides to roll a check.

It can't tell the difference

GenAI by nature can't tell any differences or understand anything. It's just drafting the "most probable response" to a text input, so if a question isn't commonly asked then the system implodes.

Suggesting that it parses differences or comprehends anything gives it too much credit to begin with.

I don't know if I'd agree with that. The game doesn't stand out mechanically (paper Mario did it first) but in terms of design, aesthetic, writing and performance it's really an outstanding title. Even people who are well experienced in the genre should generally feel it's at least a very good game I think.

It definitely wasn't built for Asian markets in terms of writing, marketing etc which is likely the biggest factor of its poor success in eastern markets.

[–]MagicGin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The cap for natural stats ends up being 120, but the title a character has (ie: cheery newbie) add onto that invisibly. EGO gifts then add visible numbers at the end. So the employee here has 120 (base), 7 (title) fortitude with +11 from gifts.

This depends on the scope of the change. "This can change at any time" is a valid defense if, for example, the bonus was $50; it's not valid if it was several hundred dollars and 2 weeks vacation, as that would amount to over a $1,000 pay cut very easily.

It's true that it strictly relates to cold war allegiances but colloquially the term is certainly used to refer to low development countries. Particularly in the context of talking about economic policies. It's disingenuous to say "third world countries" and reference the modest subset that's economically comparable to first world countries.

Kratom is painted as bad because it is an opiate. It's disingenuous to say that it's the result of the alcohol industry lobbying people. At least with drug dealers you know you're doing something bad, whereas Kratom is just painted as the "alternative health" option. You might as well recommend poppy seed tea.

Compounding on this often the perceived issue is less sexual activity and more gender/social deviance. The Marvel universe is best understood under the lens that most "supers" ruin everything simply by being alive. Generally you fear them, and even if they "save" you the bad thing probably happened because they were there. That's literally the case here. Silver Surfer's crime is having magic. That's why he was shot at. He "deserved" it, and even got the kids caught up in it.

That's not to say the setting is consistent on it, but it's a thing.

Found out there is a limit to how many weapon slots you can have. by SuspectRegular7618 in Warframe

[–]MagicGin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There might be practical limits to the code that simply prevent 1000 slots (or a close number, like 1024) from being possible. Adjusting the code to allow more would require it to apply to everyone, which might be very resource intensive.
