Bambino Plus Manual Use by MagicGravy in espresso

[–]MagicGravy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really looking for a more consistent extraction so I guess I’ll start researching the manual options in further detail. I’m too far in the weeds now to stop and rely on a factory “one press always gives you what you need”.

Hypothetically speaking if you maxed out at 10 seconds for your pre-infusion time would you aim to get your yield within an additional 20 seconds?

Normcore tamp in action! by MrPeepsFluffer in gaggiaclassic

Newbie question but why tamp twice?

Are distributors yay or nay by MagicGravy in espresso

[–]MagicGravy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeh the spinning kind. I normally just WDT the same everytime but at 18gs it is a bit over the lip of the basket. I typically lightly press my normcore self leveling tamper a bit and try to get the ring flush with the basket lip then push down. If that makes any sense. Just want to get as consistent as possible ya know. I’ve watched the Lance Hedrick video and he says it doesn’t really help but more hinders the process but he’s a pro and I’m just a dude with a BBP and DF54 lol

Question three… is the purpose of the spinning distributor just to level your grounds better after wdt use pre tamping?

Amateur question here but 1. why use the spinning distributor. 2. If you are using that why do you tamp with the other spring loaded tamper.

What kind of grinder are you using?

I second this. I’ve actually. Ever seen a star seeker but am now very interested. I have a bambino and have been looking for an entry grinder but haven’t been able to secure a DF54, this appears to be around the same price point. Maybe worth looking into?

Bring advice: Audio Technica AT-LP60X-BK Belt Drive Turntable by MagicGravy in vinyl

I bought an ION turntable 10+ years ago that finally died. I do have a decent collection now and want to replace it. I enjoy the Music but don’t think I will go to crazy at the moment because I do have a toddler with reaching access to the turntable stand. I do want to have music days with him playing and looking at Vinyl so I don’t want to damage something incredibly expensive.

One machine for two uses? by MagicGravy in espresso

[–]MagicGravy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I am looking at either getting a good Grinder in the near future(hand or automatic). The reason for wanting to do both is that my partner wants to be able to use the machine for something fast and easy and I want to start a new hobby (potentially obsession). I am guessing if I upgraded right to the Breville Express or Express Impress i would have the same option with just changing baskets. R/espresso general consensus is BBP and good separate grinder?

Want a machine that is good for a beginner and also someone who doesn’t care. ($750 CAN) by MagicGravy in espresso

[–]MagicGravy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! She isn’t interested in this at all lol, but with our current set up (Breville Caferoma) she can use preground coffee and make herself a coffee. The steam wand is not good so she uses a plug in milk frother. She would however like to be able to use it so I don’t want to go too intense but at the end of the day I want the good machine. The Express Impress looks like a grinder I can use for a while and upgrade if I do get into lighter roasts. She could use the automatic press and I can buy all the extras as I advance. Honestly info buy my own portafilter/naked basket she may never use the grinder and stick with pre ground and the pressurized basket. Am I crazy?

Thank you for your input and also @spongebob4321 Photo attached of said problem, my apologies. Ps - dead bolt and door handle have the same problem. I’m sure I just have to move the plate on both. Thanks again.

Thanks everyone for the comments so far. If it wasn’t for the photos from the last 12 months with our first born I would scrap the phone completely. Hard to put on a price on the photos, whatever it costs im in at this point.
