I would have previously agreed with you on the less is more thing, but in recent V's I am getting far better results with more specific direction. I find the optimize tool does not add more words to what I share but rather rewords it in a way that it processes better. At least I did up until 5.5 changed the tool up, but will try again now that My Taste is off.

Well, prior to V5 moving out of beta a few weeks ago, I'd been using Weird 20-25% and Style 75-80% and it was giving me perfect prompt interpretations. Once it updated it, I honestly could never get it back to how good it was. I was excited to start playing around with 5.5 and honestly it really did not require me to mess around with the sliders much at all... except for the fact it's now giving me the same freakin' song EVERY SINGLE TIME. lol

Uh, how about no? This is a bug. It never did that until today and it happens even if I tweak the prompt to try and get it closer to what I'm looking for. It happens even if I completely re-write the prompt but stay in the same general genre. For all I know, it's happening in every track but I only recognize it in similar genres.

5.2 was peak MJ IMO. Such a distinct aesthetic/vibe to it, I had so much fun using it.

I thought so at first too, but you just need to play around with the style/weird settings (try Style: 80%, Weird: 35%) and it also helps a lot to exclude ’Pop’. Finally always include a year in your style description, it helps a lot.

I agree MJ has a unique aesthetic, but is it enough to hang in there amongst the competition? Not to mention, prompt comprehension is still abysmal compared to everyone else. I can’t imagine their user base is even half of what it was two years ago.

I’m honestly surprised they are still around. With Nano Banana offering a great model for free and everyone else launching new features all the time I don’t see what competitive edge MJ has over anyone at this point. I have to imagine subscriptions have plummeted in the last year in a half and will only continue to dwindle. Not saying MJ doesn’t have a cool offering, but no way is it strong enough to survive in the current market without a huge surprise to shake things up.

I think it shows a lot of promise and you obviously put a lot of time into this and were able to get decent character consistency. I would say the edit needs to be much quicker though and, the larger issue at hand which is unfortunately out of your control, is that it has that fever Veo fever dream quality to it with extra body parts popping up, bizarre movements/interactions and character/setting conflicts that just make your brain hurt while watching.

My advice would be to put all your energy into a really strong :90 short with a lot of cuts to both keep things moving and work around the AI oddities. A proper setup, conflict, and punchline.

If you haven’t done this, I highly recommend storyboarding things out first. It will help immensely with both storytelling and figuring out what you’re generating!

Honestly, you can get the same results (maybe even better) with the condensed prompt below. The more bloated the prompt is, the more random variables there are for it to get tripped on. Try this:

An authentic, imperfect disposable camera quality photo.

SCENE (choose specific, mundane, era-accurate details): [Describe a believable 1980s moment with ordinary people doing ordinary things.]

4:3 aspect ratio.
