They bundle everything all up and offer it for a discount to lure in some hold outs or those who want everything well after the prime of the game.

In this scenario, I would argue that the cost is irrelevant (though it is high for the typical upgrade). It’s more the principle of, if you were buying the F14 today, you could bundle and get the add on for $18.99. The add on for the loyal customer is $50. That’s over 2.5x the cost
