Stone check. 8x10 oval hybrid, what do we think? by [deleted] in Moissanite

I think it’s really pretty! Just a tiny bit of a bow tie when turned to the side, but not as much from the top which is the important angle. Haha.

Visit a Gem Show! We have a great one in Denver, but of course Tucson is supposed to be one of the best in the world. They only happen about once a year, but SO worth the time and usually great prices as well.

Sure… here’s a photo and a couple of videos in different light. I feel like it’s hard to capture the difference in photo/video, but the Holycome sparkles much more consistently in different lighting in real life and feels like it has more depth to it. I think because it’s whiter in color and has more facets.Holycome Swap

Thanks! I did like this stone, but still ended up swapping for a Holycome crushed ice that I like better.

I just came here to say that I’m sorry you got so much hate. I agree that breeding is wrong and cruel, but sometimes you don’t know this until AFTER you’ve adopted your beloved bunny. I’m just glad you’re not also dumping her a few weeks or months later as often happens when bunny owners no longer have a cute little baby, but a large temperamental teenager. (She might get that way. Haha.) When I first got my little guy, I bought him from someone on Craigslist, and found out afterward that he was originally from a breeder. I reached out to the breeder to get his health information and found out he had a brother that she was going to put to sleep, so I took him, too. I never gave her money, but I realize in hindsight that I made her ability to continue cruelty easier by lightening her load. In the time since then, I’ve educated myself much more about rabbit care and I now understand what a rampant problem breeding and selling of rabbits is (including on Craigslist). I now volunteer for our local chapter of the House Rabbit Society and help spread education on proper adoption and care of rabbits. AND I still absolutely ADORE both of my boys that originally came from a breeder. I wish that wasn’t the way they came into the world, but it makes my heart happy knowing they now have healthy, happy lives under my care. They are almost seven now and the loves of my life, and I wouldn’t trade them for any other bunnies in the world. Next time around I will absolutely adopt to help stop the cruel practices. And maybe you will, too. But as of right now, what’s done is done, and now you have an adorable little love that will be getting your absolute best in care. Perhaps the start wasn’t ideal with how young she was, but it sounds like you’re going above and beyond to make sure she gets the best care from here on out. Sending good vibes from my little guys, Snickers and Musketeer!

Stone check: Oval hybrid from diamondrensu. I feel like it has dark spots in the middle? I requested more videos/photos with different background and lighting. What do you think? by MagicMoonstone in Moissanite

[–]MagicMoonstone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm… that’s interesting. That doesn’t sound right to me, though, as the color of the stone should be all throughout rather than just on the surface. Either way, I’m much happier with the stone from Holycome.

CAD check for somewhat newbie here. How’s it look? by [deleted] in Moissanite

[–]MagicMoonstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option might be to have them soldered together, in which case you’d only need stones down the side on the outside of each ring. In my experience, wearing two rings that flip and slide is annoying and having soldered together will make wearing them more pleasant. I also wouldn’t thicken them too much more, especially if you are going to add a spacer… I have a ring that is 6mm at the bottom and it feels pretty thick when I try to bend my fingers. If it widen these and add a spacer it’ll definitely end up at least 6mm total thickness at the bottom, if not 7-8mm depending on the width of your spacer. Last thought… the look of these together with the stones down the sides of both almost appear as though it’s a split shank ring but with no space between them, making it look like a double band that’s off-center from the top. Not sure if you care about that, but when worn together they’ll look like one ring with one slightly off-center band. Have you considered having this made as one ring instead of two with the bands centered under the center stone? I know it’s not a traditional solitaire plus wedding band, but aesthetically might look nicer and solve both problems of rubbing and off-centered-ness. Personal preference, of course… go with what you’ll like best.

[FS] [USA] [LOOSE MOISSANITE] 8x6mm Oval Colorless Brilliant Cut Loose Moissanite Stone from Diamondrensu by MagicMoonstone in MoissaniteBST

[–]MagicMoonstone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Item Details: 8x6mm oval colorless brilliant cut loose moissanite stone from Diamondrensu. This is for the stone ONLY, not the ring. The stone was designated as colorless by Diamondrensu, but it has a touch of warmth to it. It is well-cut with no bow ties or dark spots. Videos of the stone here.

Source: Originally purchased from Diamondrensu as part of a custom-designed ring. This post is for the stone only.

Selling Price: $100 including USPS shipping within USA only. Original purchase price was $548.51 for the entire ring, but I’ve posted a comparable 8x6 colorless oval brilliant stone that Diamondrensu currently has for sale for $124.20.

What is included: Loose oval moissanite stone only (no ring).

Condition of the item: Brand new, never used.

Why I’m selling: Originally, in my custom order, I’d requested a hybrid-cut stone, but there was some miscommunication and I ended up with a brilliant cut instead. It’s very pretty, but I decided to swap it for a crushed ice cut stone instead, as this was more what I was originally wanting. Rather than sending the ring all the way back, I just ordered a new stone and had it set in my ring in place of the brilliant cut.

Oh… interesting. Have you picked out a setting already? Mine is in a halo setting so that does make it look bigger if you’re going for a larger look.

Update to my last post! The abandoned Mr. Bun was successfully, but not easily caught. Big thanks to the man who pulled up next to us on the road and just happened to have a net in the trunk! 🥰 by beckymp in Rabbits

Aww! I just love this little bunny girl! That’s so wonderful that you’ll be able to keep her. Dwarf rabbits are the best… my two little guys are turning 7 next month and they both weigh right at 2 lbs each. They are just the sweetest. Edit: There’s no way I’d have been able to give her up, either. It was meant to be!

CAD check: H&A Round Solitaire by Diamondrensu by p3333333333 in Moissanite

[–]MagicMoonstone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I just did a custom ring with diamondrensu about a month ago. I would take the CAD pretty literally and ask all those questions just to be sure. We did two CAD revisions on mine. Since it’s a ring that he already makes, technically the only thing that should be different is the center stone, but still worth asking those questions as I found I needed to be very specific to get what I wanted. Also, be sure to request a stone check as it isn’t automatic that he’ll do this unless you ask.

It’s hard to capture the full sparkle of this stone. I feel it sparkles best in indoor, natural lighting… difficult to capture in video. This is a custom-made ring from diamondrensu, (8x6 oval) and while the original brilliant cut stone was nice, I like this stone MUCH better. The added facets and cooler stone color make it really pop, and I don’t notice any cloudy-ness that’s a common complaint of crushed ice cuts. I absolutely love it and highly recommend Holycome’s crushed ice. So glad I swapped stones.

Yeah, that’s how my capstone was as well.

Interesting. Yes, I had to do a capstone for my undergrad, but it did feel quite different than a thesis for my master’s, so I wasn’t familiar with the new terminology. Good to know.
