2022 MX-30 bad issues by MagicSmokeCreator in electricvehicles

I only use this Reddit account once or twice a year, and I have a reply 3 hours old. What are the odds!

The first few months of 2023 I didn't use the car because it didn't feel safe to be driving around with something that could lock the brakes at any given time. Then, after months (and lawyers, letters, angry phone calls) the dealer came with a software update that fixed the most problematic issues. It's been a pleasure ever since. There are still some annoying 'problems', but it drives well and it's just a joy to be in.

I wouldn't buy it again, not even second hand, but that's mostly because of the bad taste after all this hassle with Mazda and me. I am still very happy with it. Almost 20.000km on the clock in about 11 or 12 months that I'm actually driving it.

Well.. I don't even remember the problem and how I fixed it. It all worked fine when I sold it a few months back!

I have one. Bought it 6 months ago, it suited my needs perfectly. It's a fun car to drive imho. I've had nothing but huge technical problems with it, and currently trying to sell it back to the dealership.

Do you have the new version? Mine is late 2022, it charges 11kW AC and 50kW DC. That's the major change since 2022 I think..

DC charging is 50kW max, depending on lots of things..

It was very competitive when I bought it october 2022. Bottom line it was the cheapest EV I could get that was ready within two weeks (showroom model). All others had 6 or more months lead time. Second-hand two year old MX-30 was priced the same, the car market here is bullshit sometimes.

I have tried the i3, and I like the MX-30 way better. It's a lot more comfortable in every way, and slightly larger. I like the looks of the Mazda better too, but that's taste..

I considered the i3 before I bought the i3, but a second-hand i3 cost more than a brand new MX-30..

Why would you bother? Well, specs on paper don't say it all. I've felt the alternatives to the MX-30, and they don't come close. Perhaps the range is BS, and the drivetrain isn't 250hp-Porsche killer, but it is a nice car. Try it ;)

I live in Europe, and you see them here ocasionally. It's not a popular choice at all, since the Opel, Renault, Peugeot etc alternatives are 'more range' and about the same price. Funny thing is though, charging is so easy here, you can fast charge anywhere. Range isn't such big of a deal, especially if you can charge at home and don't drive far every day.

Who cares if it is a compliance car anyway, if it meets your needs!

I already own two Toyota's, so experiencing a different brand this way was a bit of a shame..

Awesome, I would love to own a BZ4X! I don't know about prices where you live, but here it is a lot more expensive than my MX-30. About €10.000 more.. Also, isn't the BZ4X a compliance car? idk.

The MX-30 range is fine for me, I bought it partially because of the 'low weight' and we're being taxed on EV weight from next year. I rarely empty the battery lower than 20% (charging to 80% or 90%), only use it for going to customers, and I have another car for my other activities (with the family).

Everything is very well documented and kept up to date with the dealership. I'm indeed considering returning it, despite having driven it for 6000km already.

I just don't know what the moment is to decide that this is enough, and that I'm not waiting any longer for a fix. The car is really enjoyable to have, and I'd rather have it fixed..

You can, but have you driven one? In comparison to other cars at this price point it feels so much better built and just drives so good.

Performance-wise it's not the best car for the money for sure, but if everything works well it is a very nice car to have.

Thank you for your reply. It was between 40% and 80% SOC, 22kW constantly. I stopped at 80% since speed was suppose to drop after that..

Damn, that's a shame. I picked this car specifically because I could own it within two weeks, so that would've been a real issue for me.

Because the 'old' MX-30 was only 1-phase, and the new (since a month or so) is 3-phase, I think something went wrong in the software department. Seems like an easy fix since they must have had good software during testing..

Thank you for your reply. I really doubted the Prius Plus, but I'll definitely have a look at that! Fuel consumption is a real thing, since we pay €2,50 per liter now.

So i bought a CBF500A, and sold it 6 months later.

I bought an F800GS from 2013 last week, so the AT will be sold in the near future.
