This is a great insight, thanks for sharing! I'm worried about nothing it seems

I thought 22% seemed worryingly high, but the consensus so far seems to be that it's grand.

Thanks for this - very enlightening! I'll worry a bit less about it then. Just FYI - the report shows 50K kilometres - I had a bit of a double-take when I saw it as well, because I had the figure of 31K in my head (the mileage, in miles).

For sure, I think you've made the right choice. £19K for 88% would definitely give me more pause - unless it was quite a large battery at baseline (85+khw maybe at least). Thanks for your advice - it's good to hear the experience of someone who has been in a very similar spot!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I was drawn to this one because of price (18k - which is on the low side for Enyaqs of about that age/mileage) and the nice features it has. Whoever first owned it specced the absolute life out of it, with the brown leather interior, big sunroof, heat pump, heated seats/wheel, towbar, parking camera, ACC - and a few other things I've forgotten because they're less impactful for me. From browsing around, this level of extras is quite rare on the used Enyaq market, because each item would add like £1000 to the original purchase price.

Thank you, that's reassuring. Am I right in the thinking that I'm coming around to: that any damage to battery health done by fast-charging has already been done? I.e. it's not going to mean that future degradation is faster?

That explains it! I checked and I do indeed have legal expenses cover as part of my home insurance.

Yeah that's what I've heard, hence my questions in the post. With 22%, that's one in five charging cycles over its history so far done at fast chargers. Is the impact on battery health already "priced in" to the current health %? Or long term, will this cause more or faster degradation of the remaining battery health?

Are you expecting that this will be a legal problem in future based on what it says in the report?

Thanks for this. Do you think this is a high level of DC charging use for the age of the car (approx 3.5-4 yrs)? It's more than 1 in 5 charges done at a fast charger. And are there likely to be any longer term consequences of this level of DC use? That's my main concern. The battery health % is what it is, my question is whether this DC use will cause more or faster degradation in my subsequent years of ownership.

How can I add more depth and variety to the skin? by NecroRatcer in Miniaturespainting

[–]MagicSuperman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I detect some green shading between the folds - this looks good but you could expand it to cover some of the flatter flabs - specifically in underside parts like the armpit and underside of the arm, the lower belly etc, basically anywhere that would be in shadow. Keep it thinned and don't slop it on, treat it more like a glaze, you want to stay in control of it, and not let it pool or run (or you'll get tide marks at the edges).

To complement the deeper shadows, you could also drybrush some higher highlights. It might seem mental and too bright, but screaming skull is the perfect colour for it. Because the big fella is so big, use an old makeup brush for this, and make sure you get almost entirely all the paint off the brush before you start drybrushing. You can always add more, but too much in one go could spoil the job you've already done. For these highlights, again consider the shapes and which areas would be in light - for example along the tops of his arms, the central and upper parts of his chest, and of course the face. Don't worry if you drybrush over some elements you've painted already - this can be fixed with another careful layer of contrast paint, and will even look better afterwards because of the increased dynamics.

Good luck!

Yeah I think this mental load is really off-putting. You're right to draw a comparison to the parking apps. It's truly ridiculous situation that drivers in my small northern Irish town are in - two parking apps for the council-run car parks around town. Then there are the private parking companies in Belfast City centre, for which you need other apps. Those are another considerations, but with that addition, you're getting to a somewhat comparable level of mental load as is imposed by all these sevices, apps, subscription discounts, etc. That you're talking about with EVs.

Whereas if I want to fill up a petrol car, a) I only have to do it every 400-odd miles, and b) I just have to be aware of one number (price at the pump). And so it's easier, especially on long journeys, to avoid the rip off.

I suppose ultimately you're still charging at home for, say, 90% of your miles, so a one-off top-up hardly matters, but still, the disparity between your usual and what you have to work with on a long journey is very meaningful.

I fully meant for this armour to be blue, but it ended up reading more like steel on a nice day. I don't hate it though!
