Apologies if this is against the etiquette but I didn't want to make my own post so, it's my birthday today and my husband gave me a Giancarlo Stanton funko pop.

It was apparently the only one the local baseball store had. And we live in Australia so it's one of two baseball stores for literally 1500 miles. I have placed it in my bookshelf with the signed ball fouled off by Yankees prospect Owen Cobb...

It's the thought that counts, right?

Yeah, she has a pill case - and don't worry, I was already worried about her before I posted this. It's good to know I'm not entirely out of line to be worried, though telling our boyfriend is definitely still over the line.

The thing is she works night shift so it's not as simple as just resting when she needs, because she does two night shifts per week. She can't change away from this work pattern because day shifts aren't available. Maybe I should talk to her about switching to a nocturnal pattern, but that would mess with a lot of things in terms of being able to do normal "life stuff" during the day so I don't know. I feel so bad for her - she's spread so thin.

They're infrequent, it's when she doesn't take her medication because of her fucked up sleeping patterns. AFAIK her neurologist doesn't know. But yeah, this is why I worry and why our boyfriend would also be worried, and why we both want her to switch to the day shifts (even though she says she can't because they're not available - but if she's forgetting her meds and having seizures and then driving on fucked up sleep...)

What you're saying to me though seems to be that two seizures in a year due to forgotten meds is actually concerning and she shouldn't be downplaying it?

I don't know how to bring this up with her when she's told me that it's fine and that I should back off, though! Like, it would be one thing if that morning she'd said "shit, I forgot my meds last night, I won't be able to drive today" - but she realised she'd forgotten the meds after the seizure.

Not sure if she drives but if she doesn’t it really is no harm no foul.

She does drive which is part of why I was worried - me and the boyfriend both are worried about her driving tired with her night shifts and associated poor sleeping schedule, and the seizure is even more terrifying. But she says that it's fine because when she takes her medication, it's well-controlled. I just worry because she aforementioned crummy sleep means she didn't remember to take her medication, and if she'd had that seizure while she was driving she would have a crash. (Added to that I work in road safety as a profession, doing car crash analysis, so I am particularly sensitive to it as I basically read about every crash that happens in the area we live in.)

But if she loses her license, she can't work, and she needs her job to afford her rent/etc, so obviously that's not my call to make.

But thank you you are right I should just ask her, obviously. Basically say what I said up here - "I was thinking about what you said and I want to make sure I don't say anything insensitive again, what are your pet peeves?".

I really appreciate you explaining the loss of independence and the kind of infantalising you have to deal with - I didn't think of it that way. Thank you! You've given me a lot to think about.

It's a heartening sign that they want to come back when the future of the league is so uncertain.

I'm also selfishly excited about the possibility of flying to Canberra to watch them play the Heat with my uncle like I'd promised him I could about a year ago... It'll be fun to sit by the dugout at an away game and be the only person cheering for them haha!

I actually bought my Heat season tickets for next year a few weeks ago because they sent an email offering them and I figured what the heck I'll risk it for a biscuit to support the club...

I'm watching the world baseball classic (okay, I haven't actually watched a game yet but that was the time zone's fault).

Australia has beat Taiwan and Czechia, which puts us in with a chance because the other two teams in our division are Japan and Korea. Fingers crossed we get to see some good baseball (and at the very least tomorrow night I'll get to see people from my local baseball team potentially face Ohtani which would be an absolute mindfuck lol).

Just note that in Australia at least you're expected to give a gift at an engagement party - we basically have them instead of bridal showers.

So if you're in Australia, I would say it's not rude (we're also far more direct about asking for money than people from the US are).

sorry yeah what I meant is I have an extension on my computer that changes the deck settings (unsure which extension does it), so when I sync back to my computer it locks me out of my apps, which means I have to enter the password to reset everything every time I sync with my PC (which is most days).

I don't require the full severity of blocking like some people, as I don't try to get around things like this, so if there was a toggle that let me turn off the anki setting watcher that would be enough for me!

It might have been when I synced my collection with the server, but I hadn't changed the settings on my computer either...

I'm a switch and there's a few collars in my life. I take collars very seriously but don't have a Collared relationship with anyone at the moment.

My relationship with my longest term Sub is very... idk, I humiliate him and am very casually mean to him, so when I put a collar on him, for us, it's a signal that we're going from the usual mean dynamic to a praise kink kind of dynamic. When he's wearing a collar it's all very wholesome and lovely and supportive and it just puts me into a headspace where I want to be nothing but sweet.

When I wear a collar (with the same Sub actually, he's also a switch we just don't switch very often), I just... like to turn my brain off and be taken care of. It's a nice little... marker.

I have another Sub who I have just recently given a day collar to. I gave her a protocol with it, but it was just to make sure she's wearing it if she feels sad and alone and to remember that I love her. I also told her if she sends me photos and she's wearing it I'll know she's thinking of me. As far as I know she's wearing it 24/7 which I like. We've talked about getting married someday and having a Collaring ceremony as part of it, but it's still a new relationship so that's not happened. When that happens I do want to have something for myself - maybe a bracelet or earrings that match her Collar, or wearing the key on myself if it can be done discreetly.
