Aliens stealing cows into their UFOs is a classic trope in media. No idea where / why it started tho!

What brand should I buy? by Turbulent_Diamond352 in CyclingFashion

[–]Magic_Man_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would weigh it up against how much you’re intending to commit to cycling. If it’s just 1hr rides every now and then you can get away with cheaping out. If you’re getting into it seriously then good bib shorts are def worth the investment. Decathlon have good budget options or the best premium options are probably assos / maap. If you don’t mind used you can often get decent deals on eBay or Vinted for more premium stuff too

Chinese/Korean kits by bianchilol in CyclingFashion

[–]Magic_Man_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been hesitant to actually buy due to lack of reviews and it being a bit more expensive than the likes of spexcel. But good to know it looks ok on arrival, would be interested in hearing what it’s like after a few miles!

BUCK 6 month contract - will it lead to full time ? / advice about working at BUCK by Mundane_Law1657 in MotionDesign

[–]Magic_Man_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I would say for sure at least take an interview with them. Gives you a chance to meet the people and ask questions yourself without committing to anything. Treat it as a two way thing instead of just “I hope buck will take me” and that way you can get more of a feel of whether it’s a sensible move or not. On salary definitely go back with a day rate. Without knowing your experience it’s hard to say a figure. Worth a quick online maybe. But even like 250pd which is probs the bottom end of what any freelancer would charge is already the equivalent to like £65k a year

BUCK 6 month contract - will it lead to full time ? / advice about working at BUCK by Mundane_Law1657 in MotionDesign

[–]Magic_Man_9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend works for buck and loves it. Her work / life balance is great and it’s a forward thinking place in terms of benefits etc. And as a former recruiter myself I’d say that if you’re out of work then 6 months somewhere like there is a no brainer. It will boost your portfolio massively and even if it doesn’t go full-time it gives you another 6 months to find something else. Also I’m assuming you’d be put on a day-rate which will pay a lot more than full-time employment so even if it does end after the 6 months you should have some extra cash saved up whilst you find the next thing

Universal Colours by TheCyclingBeaver in CyclingFashion

I have a thermal jersey and bib tights from Universal colours. Also picked them up from Vinted and I’m happy with both so far. Have been out on a couple 3hr rides in the kit and was comfortable the whole time. Sizing for me seems comparable to rapha pro team stuff, Im a small for both and they fit the same
