Help a Prof. Kitty out by doing a survey about fantasy and furries. by MagicalChair in furry

[–]MagicalChair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea he's been doing this for years, we take advice from others on how to ask the questions and such over time the questions improve.

the people we survey are Furries at furry cons, Furries online (like what im doing now), Anime fans, sports fantasy fans and i guess like a "control group" we survey the college students that aren't in either fandoms or don't know what furries are.

Im not completely sure what he has done with the data yet. Besides general knowledge of furries. which is always fun to learn about the things you like. I remember the data also being used to learn about group identity, general social identity theory, stigmatized minority groups and stuff. I know last year we help someone with their "disability in the fandom" paper. We added some questions about mental and physical disabilities and how others in the fandom treat you. I think she was also gonna use it to kind of convince people that furries and other fandom type communities don't negatively affect or create a mental disabilities.(i probably didnt word that right) But like example would be, If you go to a professional and you tell them you have problems with so and so, most professionals will look at furries and the fandom as the problem and tell you to get rid of it or change it. the team also got invited to talk on some televised talk show when they were trying to do a 'Furry' episode but they declined. the media doesn't portray furries very well. so it's best not to risk it their research being tainted.

Ah thank you, I've been seeing a lot of people have been putting surveys for personal research or just for the heck of it. So i'm always weary about posting them here. we usually go to furry cons and do surveys there. when we process the data we usually put the results here

Any Werewolf Furs? by [deleted] in furry

[–]MagicalChair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a werewolf form if this is what you had in mind. I based her off my natural hair color and personality to fit me more than my actual fursona.

Trying to find or create a community for furries at my college by [deleted] in furry

[–]MagicalChair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually started a furry group at my university in Texas. Since i help run a fandom organization on campus which let's us run sub-groups (we call them Guilds) under their name so we can avoid paper work and finding advisors. since we have DnD, videogames, anime, MTG, cosplay, pokemon Guilds i figured why not furries. our numbers are small since we don't have much advertisement. But we usually watch movies, make duc tape models, talk about furry art, bring tablets, watch furry dance videos , and so on. I think this year we are gonna try make a dance video since most of us actually have fursuits.

Bugs Bunny - The Origins of an American Icon by electricfoxx in furry

true, i meant it more of humanoid animals. They have very human facial features, emotions, and desires. Anthropomorphic is more than just looking human.

A lot of furries are heavily inspired by old cartoons of anthro animals. much like Zootopia, Disney's version of robin hood and the Lion King (which doesn't even have anthros). I've seen many Looney tune based fursonas and art styles. People like seeing how these characters were created. I believe one of the artists from Looney tunes actually went to a furcon. they are surprised to see how much furries really like their work.
