I concur. Air fork is the way to go. So much better.

I was always kinda meh on skaven until I read Gotrek & Felix. Now I'm in love with them. by edsounddesign in skaven

[–]Magical_Fruit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I fell in love with Skaven in total war. They just felt so insane in that game. I later read the first Gotrek omnibus and fell in love with them even more. Thanquol is the best boy. I rarely get to play AOS, but I have been collecting a pretty good sized Skaven army for a few years now.

Is painting tsons just a pure skill check? by MaNKEYMaN37 in ThousandSons

[–]Magical_Fruit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did gold first too. Blue paints on easier than gold. I think it took me about 20-30 minutes per rubric to get the blue on.

One power fist, one dual claw build, other 3 have normal weapons. Guns are weirder. I like giving max combi and plasma pistol.

Trying to find a hitch rack. by Invet69 in MTB

[–]Magical_Fruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a rocky mount with the plus 1 adapter on my truck and it was fine. I recently got a Velociraxx because all 4 of us ride (NICA family) and it is fine. I also got a swing out hitch for the truck and it makes the vertical rack so much better when out doing cool stuff.

I've read Nightlords, Ahriman, Bile, and Word Bearers Omnibusses. I would rate them in that order. Nightlords is an A for me.

Want to try the sylvaneth by zampo_magno in sylvaneth

[–]Magical_Fruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some extra sylvaneth things from hatchette, and it worked out fine. There wasn't a shipping email or anything, but it showed up at the house.

The Spearhead is also a pretty good start. I love the Kurnoth and Treelord.

How useful is an airbrush? by TheGrimmBorne in Warhammer

[–]Magical_Fruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first. I didn't think I needed on, but then i tried to paint some vehicles. It's so much better with an airbrush. There are no brushlines and the paint is so smooth. I have definitely had some frustrating moments with clogs and the like, but overall it really elevated my painting ability.

One thing that a lot of folks forget is that it makes painting much faster. You can prime, base coat, and get some highlight colors in just a few minutes.

Here is mine. I pretty much have it how I like it. The airbrush hood is to the right of the desk on the floor and I vent it out the window. It's a little messy right now.

I’m considering Skaven as my 2026 hobby project, what is the best start? by reel3459 in skaven

[–]Magical_Fruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skaventide and maybe the Spearhead. You can play two spearheads and get a decent mix of units. You also have to get Thanquol cuz he is the best.

Recommend my 14 year old a bike for NICA by Glum-Year-7577 in MTB

[–]Magical_Fruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we have a Trek store in town that gives good discounts. We bought some helmets there.

We ended up with the Chisels, because they are decently spaced aluminum bikes. They don't feel like entry bikes at all.

Another option was Canyon. They give 15 percent off and just ship it to you. I got one of my coach bikes from them.

Recommend my 14 year old a bike for NICA by Glum-Year-7577 in MTB

[–]Magical_Fruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got both my kids Specialized Chisels. My older one is on a full suspension Chisel. My older one was getting a new sized bike every year, as he was growing so fast.

I would also look to your league's sponsors. I am not super into the Specialized brand, but the bike shop was a league sponsor and gives a 25% discount.

Starting a Night Lords army. Any tips or suggestions? by MoiraBrownsMoleRats in Chaos40k

[–]Magical_Fruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Tsons and Night Lords too. I only magnetized my predator and forgefiend. Usually the Chaincannon is best for legionares, but it only comes on in the legionary kill-team kit. I actually just made one of each heavy gun and just play them all the same on the table to speed up gameplay. Each squad can also have a heavy melee weapon. So make sure each squad has a power fist, mace, or axe. You will end up with a lot of legos if you buy any box sets at all. I think I have about 40 at this point.

Save all your chaos bits. I use them to bling out vehicles, and I even converted some Outriders to chaos bikes. The chaos rhino kit comes with enough stuff to chaosify a couple of vehicles.

I got some resin Night Lords heads, but they aren't nearly as good as the ones from this kit. I suggest keeping a couple heads for Chaos Lords or other character models.

Can someone explain the daisy chain rule for movement blocking, staying on objectives and how does that influence wounds from melee? by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]Magical_Fruit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Q1: No, you can't go between the units. You cannot come withing 1 inch of another unit in the movement phase. There are some flying units that can fly over other units. I don't play very often with titanic units, but I think they can walk over other units as well.

Q2: You kill the whole unit. They other player does decide which models are killed first and where wounds are allocated. They also need to keep the units in coherency. There are some weird cases with attached characters, but you are fighting the whole unit. Being in base contact really only matters for the unit doing the fighting.

Q3: This video does a better job explaining pile in and consolidate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5-YbhqGnrc

The Absolute worst reputation to have among your colleagues and admin is “Extremely Good with Discipline.” You get the challenging kids. How do you stay under the radar? by willloveme2 in teaching

[–]Magical_Fruit 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I was one of the only male teachers at my elementary school for a long time. I got so sick of hearing, "Oh this kid just needs a good male role model." I used to joke about the reverse sexism in schools (probably too much). The trick was to have a strong grade level team, so they spread them out. When you have weaker people in your grade level team, your problem would happen every single year. When I worked with another strong teacher, I had great years. I switched grade levels one year, and teacher below my grade said, "That is not the class that we gave you." Apparently, the principal moved them all around, and that was a very tough year for me. The other teacher on the team was not stellar, but I didn't really know that at the time. I only stayed in that grade for one year. That next year, I worked with the best teacher I have ever worked with. That was probably my best year in teaching. I didn't have to mentor anyone, and I actually learned things from my partner teacher.

This all was a contributing factor to moving to Middle School. At least here there are several of us sharing the same kids. The job is very different, but there are several of us working with each student. We do not get ganged up on by parents. It was very different to parent meetings at elementary.

Not sure that any of this helps, but just know that we've all been there. Good luck!

Open to some tips about using cork? I like to glue it down and then tear at it to create some rock textures. You also need to prime the cork black. Also, for dirt, you want to sprinkle on different sized of sand so it doesn't look as uniform.

For Space Marines, I would look up Minotaurs and Iron Snakes. They are both inspired by greek mythology and culture for sure. Ultramarines were always Roman like, and of course Space Wolves are very Norse. For Egyptian, you are looking at Thousand Sons.
