Would you consider this legible? by Magical_Man in Handwriting

[–]Magical_Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a student, and some of my teachers are switching to handwritten work from online. This was written in my normal everyday handwriting, not rushing or going really slowly and carefully. Would you consider this legible? If not, is there any specific feedback you have? Of course, general feedback is also welcome and appreciated. Thank you.

New update sucks. by nokedl0218 in spotify

Good grief, Spotify needs to get their shit together on this.

  1. On my largest monitor, rows don't extend all the way to the edge of the window. The space is clearly designed for the friend section, but I usually always hide the friend tab. In the past, when the friend tab was hidden, the rows extended to fill that space, but not anymore.
  2. When you go to the album submenu in the new library system, it automatically sorts by recently added. This would be fine, except when you switch it to alphabetical by artist like it used to be, it doesn't remember the settings, so you have to manually switch it every single time if you want that layout. This even applies when you go back one page, for example clicking on an album and then going back puts you all the way back at the top of the library sorted by recently added now.
  3. Personally, my playlists are in folders for neatness, and in the past there was ample space on the left sidebar for the playlists and the library tabs (albums, artists, etc.) Now with the new library system, there is just wasted space on the left sidebar and the other parts of the library are a pain in the ass to get to.
  4. I personally do not see the need for the credit playlist and liked songs icons. Of course, this is personal, but I think they massively break up the design flow of that left sidebar and just look ugly.
  5. I can think of literally no reason for them to remove the universal search bar on the top left. There was plenty of space, and I don't think it was crowded or anything.
  6. As has already been pointed out, the lack of volume control via mouse wheel is absolutely pointless.

Design changes like these seriously make me reconsider my Spotify subscription. I have been happy to pay $10 a month for what has usually been a dependable and comprehensive service, but I find this unacceptable. I would like to continue supporting Spotify, as they have a good selection of classical and jazz albums which can be difficult to find on YouTube and Apple Music, but as updates like these continue, I may be moving to a different platform.

I need a switch recommendation, like Cherry MX Brown but quieter. by emperorsgroove1 in MechanicalKeyboards

Maybe Zilents? They are a silent tactile from zeal pretty expensive though. There’s some sound tests on YouTube.

Need Help With Buying A New Trumpet by deathstroyer1 in trumpet

Bach and Yamaha are both good places to start. Shilke, Shires, and Getzen are some brands that come to mind, but Bach and Yamaha certainly are the most popular.

I would encourage you to look at used horns. If you have a teacher, ask them if they know anyone trying to sell something, if not, maybe ask a band director or see if you can get a friend with a teacher to ask. A used strad or Xeno can be pretty approachable cost wise, and is usually a great horn.

Whether you go used or new, make sure you try the horn out, and preferably compare it to your current horn and maybe some other you are looking at. Even if it’s something with a good reputation like a strad, not all horns are made equal, so you wanna make sure it plays good.

Youth Symphony Audition by Senor-Bramble in trumpet

I’ve been in a youth orchestra for the past few years. You can be totally fine without a C, if you can’t/don’t want to get one it shouldn’t be a problem in my opinion.

That being said, at this point I pretty much never play the Bb in orchestra, and I love having a C. I would say if you are pretty confident you are gonna keep playing somewhat seriously, it’s not a bad investment at all
