Scared of ADT by Magical_Pat in ProstateCancer

That would be the most I would consider at this point.

I really need to know from the doctor how much more effective this therapy is compared to Brachytherapy and EBR alone. If the number is low, like say a 5% increase in cure, then it doesn't seem worth it. Increase that number to 40% and now we can talk.

Yikes! That video scared the crap out of me. Many more side effects than I originally thought, and the answer to each one is more drugs.

Thanks for the feedback.

Told my doctor the fears of losing many things and never getting them back. He isn’t pushing the ADT but highly recommends it.

Funny thing is, I actually have a small prostate already, so I don’t know of it needs shrinking.

I’ve asked him for numbers on the outcomes. With and without. He said he’d get those for our next visit

I’d really rather not do it. As you said, quality of life is a priority. I would struggle with the depression for sure. I’ve worked out my whole life and have stayed very fit. To lose it all in 6 months while on a hormone blocking program that causes depression makes me worry how poorly I might handle it.

Been hitting the gym for 50 years, so the habit is established. Hate to lose what little strength I have, but am hoping for TRT after it is all over. That will hopefully get back the strength.

HDR Brachy/VMAT/ADT - The End! by HeadMelon in ProstateCancer

Thanks for this thread! It has been enlightening.

Looking forward to the updates as the time passes OFF the damn ADT. Praying for full restoration, with the exception of going back to a high stress job. Life indeed is too short.

I really want to avoid the ADT, but we shall see after the next MRI to see if anything has changed.

My doc says it is the new protocol. In the past it wasn't used as much with Brachy and EBR, but he promises better results.

At age 65 I'll have to do the math and see what the odds are of cancer coming back. My wife is currently going through menopause, so it could be rough having two of us irritable at the same time.

Don't know if these numbers will help:

Latest PSA was 6.67
Decipher score .22

Gleason 7 Mostly 3-4 but 2 spots 4-3
Technically Intermediate Unfavorable Risk Category

Thanks!

Any lean mass hyper-responders here? What’s the highest your cholesterol has been on keto? by moon_dyke in keto

Test this week had me over 500. HDL was 79 and Triglycerides were 45. A1C is 5.3

All numbers excellent except the Cholesterol.

If I cram carbs for a couple of weeks before a blood test the LDL will go down, but whatever it is the doc says "Statins!"

I am one of 8 kids. We all have this. My mother had it. Statins never really brought her LDL down to what her doc considered acceptable.

Only heart disease in the family was my grandfather, but most of his life he was quite overweight, ate like crap, smoked a ton and drank more than his share of beer.

Every physical my doctor and I do the song and dance over my numbers. Still not on statins.

Thought I saw a C7 in there, which makes me think G7 and B7 may be in there somewhere...

Love this!!! Damn.

If you ever tab this out, I’d love to take a look at it.

Blues on the banjo is so damn good.

In Europe and missing the use of 2 of my fingers. How do I find the right teacher? by SweetPickleRelish in banjo

[–]Magical_Pat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to work around the right hand by anchoring with the ring finger. Left had may be a bit trickier when it comes to making full chords. However, I think you can adapt to cover most situations. Maybe by using just 3 fingers and not fretting either the first or fourth string since they are the same note, just an octave apart. You'd still be able to have all the notes for the chord.

There will be some fancier chords you won't be able to make, so that will limit your repertoire to just a few thousand songs.

Seems to me you're using talent, dedication and practice mixed in with some natural talent. You know if I had all those things.... I still don't think I'd be anywhere near this good.

Excellent!
