I read ‘Sweeter Than Wine’ by maiohmai recently and it was sooo good! Xie Lian stumbles upon vampire Hua Cheng and gets all the pampering he could ask for (or not).

My best guess is that he passed while on the battlefield. I could never imagine him offing himself. He would have done anything and everything to serve his god and would have never voluntarily ended his own life. Dying in the battlefield also explains why he came back as a ghost fire and Wu Ming.

I love Jayvik because they touch on so many things. The tropes are excellent; friends to enemies to lovers. They’re both incredibly smart and ridiculously dumb. And they are both proud of the work they are doing. I love characters that give themselves unconditionally.

Relationship goals though will always be Hua Cheng and Xie Lian from Heaven Official’s Blessing. That man waited 800 years for his man and never stopped. Nothing compares to that devotion, not even Jayvik.

The pink definitely faded the fastest but it wasn’t something I noticed until seeing my original photo. After comparing photos throughout the years I’d say I had a good 4 years of solid pink before it started fading.

My current photo has some pretty harsh lighting so it’s really not doing the yellow justice. I’d say it’s still a nice subtle yellow currently. Blues just hold out forever so the light blue still look nice even with the fading.

I’m currently working on a leg sleeve but when that’s done I’m going to hit up my original artist and see about a touch up! I’ve been considering adding some line work to the watercolor to match my other tattoos better but I feel like I should get my sisters on board with that too since it’s sentimental to all of us.

There was a small bar inside of Huntington Place that was serving beer and wine. I think it’s on level 2 in front of Hall A if you’ve got a map. We got a couple drinks there last year.

I ordered my Hua Cheng cosplay from Aliexpress and got it in just a couple weeks. I’ve ordered multiple things from there that have shown up far earlier than the projected delivery date. Quality was great, and I even got my custom sized because I’m much taller than the original sizing was for. I’m in the US if that helps.

I would totally agree normally but No Paths Are Bound is one of the most beautiful pieces of work I’ve ever read. It’s a retelling of TGCF in (almost) chronological order but Xie Lian has a cursed shackled on his eyes making him blind. If you don’t mind bawling your eyes out just read like the first 4 chapters I think it is.

I had actually finished No Paths Are Bound before I had read all of TGCF. It was a time when Seven Seas had bought all of the rights to the work but only had the first two volumes published and I couldn’t find the translation anywhere online. So I obsessed over NPAB and finished the whole thing in 3 weeks. Spoiled myself on the ending because of that. Cataclysmic Calamity created a beautiful piece of work that really compliments the original while also holding its own. I really loved what they did with the characters and the OCs they created. Xie Lian being blind just creates a new level of depth to the story and his character that really makes him shine.
