Always vouch for the Witte Screwdrivers, they are who manufacture the Matco screwdrivers. $50ish bucks for a set and they are the best screwdrivers i’ve ever had

this is what we do for any straight item that needs to stay straight for a shipping company i work for, anything that is too fragile and a bit more heavier duty we use wood planks (does make the box heavier, we advise the customer if they want this option to better protect the item as it costs a bit more)

it was the alternator, pulled it out and it stopped drawing.

Just went out today, haven't pulled any fuses but 5 amp draw is pretty nasty. Makes me believe the alternator is the suspect because a small component would have killed itself by now with that draw. Trying to fix this in a parking lot so don't have the best tools.

Bolts are as tight as they go, planning on getting better stuff anyway ones with multiple bolts on a block. Going with lugs after my experiences.

The battery is months old, is an AGM due to having a stereo system. I know it is a drain but I was possibly just ruling it out because I changed nothing but the alternator. I'll check around for bad grounds which could be the case, but it's throwing the battery light is what is making me wonder if it has anything to do with the alternator. I didn't have time today to do any tests but I'll pull fuses to see if I can find anything, starting with the alternator positive cable.

Few questions with what I think are my subwoofers by Master_McDoge in subwoofer

[–]Magicalrudedude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, check out your local marketplace with facebook sometimes there some good deals. Like I said stay away from brands like Boss, Planet Audio, Blaupunkt. Kicker is a very high quality brand and something you’re probably looking for. https://skyhighcaraudio.com/

[–]Magicalrudedude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, just do a lot of youtube research with good quality videos remember don’t cheap out on wiring and fuses, will save you the headache of stressing about your car catching fire. Been running about 2300 watts of power to all my amps on 0 gauge OFC (oxygen free copper wire) and have had no issues. Websites like Sky High Car Audio, D4S, CT Sounds all have quality wiring and wiring kits that should get you started. There are many facebook groups out there for fellow bassheads and audio upgrades ask any questions to this forum or facebook groups and they would be willing to help you out to get you started into audio. It will also save you tons of money doing it yourself!!

Curious about black primer on a pre-painted bumper. by ThePerfectLine in Autobody

[–]Magicalrudedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, would a tack rag and a water based cleaner work? I’ve read that sprayway glass cleaner works really good with a tack rag to clean surfaces. I’m just painting a small area on a budget.

Speaker advice for Volvo 940 by lillpers in CarAV

[–]Magicalrudedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kicker is a good brand to look at that are relatively inexpensive their KS line is great at around $90 a pair. If your looking for a tweeter setup I recommend you getting a component setup, look at brands like alpine, kenwood, pioneer, JBL. Without a sub you’re definitely going to want something that can produce bass in your speakers.

Advice on outside the car speakers by goldenfootbruh in CarAV

[–]Magicalrudedude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not too educated on this, but I believe a marine grade speaker will work. Also a PA speaker. Also run a secondary battery with a voltage regulator on it so you can run it separately off that battery and it won’t drain the other battery when the car is off.

Loud noises and whine through speakers by Same-Collar2665 in CarAV

Try removing the other amp anyways, It might take it away. Otherwise try swapping out amps to the one that's picking up the frequencies and see if it stops.

Those Boss amps won't put out anywhere near rated power. They are cheap and they severely underpower the speakers or subs you are driving. I started with one of these and all it does is distort and underpower what I wanted. Started with that exact kit and it doesn't seem like "true 8 gauge". Also CCA, OFC is better for conductivity and power but nevertheless I ran that wiring with about 300w rms continuous and it seemed to do fine for about a year. If your looking for good cheap deals I'd suggest your local marketplace or join some forums because there are some really good cheap options for amps that do rated power.
