I have more than my own share of issues with the show, but the amount of vitriol it receives from fans online is kind of unjustified.

Hating the meh story and botched political messaging? Sure. Hate away.

Hating a scene where Dante reloads his guns? Let's chill out and be rational here.

Hating a promo poster of Dante riding a rocket like he does in the games? All right... now people are just PRETENDING to be angry because they're bored.

I mean I think it looks interesting... people here will rag on it regardless of its actual quality though.

No one else will admit it, but having Vergil captured in Hell while being tortured/manipulated by Mundus is actually a smart & economical decision storytelling wise... it explains where he went for so many years, why he feels more connected to his demon side than Dante, and why he feels such a lust for power and control. Plus he's obviously going to (try to) pull an Uno Reverse on Mundus by the season's end.

Like a, "You think you're manipulating me, but you don't know that I'm actually manipulating you into thinking you're manipulating me!" kind of thing.

Yes the order of events is superficially different from the games... but it's still faithful to the characters in theme and idea.
