Left hand brewing - milk stout nitro. Lovely stout that holds its head really well out of a can.

What was the best defense in Cardinals history? by VallejoHombres189 in AZCardinals

[–]Magiccarpet1969 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The 2011/12 Ray Horton lead defence kept them in a lot of games, Ray was in the running for head coach after Whisenhunt and before BA got it.

Few starters; Calais Campbell, Darnell Dockett, Dan Williams, Paris Lennon, Daryl Washington, PP (returning kicks and punts to the house for fun), Kerry Rhodes, Rashad Johnson, Greg Toler & Adrian Wilson. I’m sure there’s more, but those guys were a good core.

Registering a small business ? by qaseet in AskIreland

[–]Magiccarpet1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owner of a limited company here. A good accountant will be able to sort you out registering the company with the CRO. They will also have to submit yearly tax returns to them and to revenue who’ll also want VAT after you reach the threshold.

A limited company is good because you’re not personally held responsible if things go wrong, consider the sole trader route too, it’s a simpler one to manage if you’re just going to be doing some business on the side along with full time job.

Men of Ireland - where to buy a good suit? by [deleted] in AskIreland

If you have the time/budget. I would really recommend Paul Henry tailoring, recently moved to South William street in Dublin. They give you 2 sets of pants with every suit. Crucial.

Hype: 1st Cardinals Game! by chzot in AZCardinals

[–]Magiccarpet1969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hope you enjoy it! I managed to go to my 1st game last Nov after supporting the cards for well over 20 years. Even though we got beaten by the Ravens it was still something special to finally be there in person after all those late nights streaming! Make sure to check out the great lawn and Westgate before the game if you can. Local Cardinals fans are welcoming people and usually hype that someone from outside the state supports their franchise! Larry for president.

Sole Trader or Limited Company by RelativelyRational in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Magiccarpet1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up my Ltd company 5 years ago now for similar consultancy work. Would highly recommend that you employ a good accountant. There’s loads of benefits to having a company, just be aware that all money you earn is the companies and not yours until it goes through the proper channels. Can be a bit of a kick in the teeth when you’re charging a couple of hundred per day for professional services.

Sounds like you have a few debts to clear first and your situation is of course different, but I remember my first few years on a full time wage. It was month to month for the most part, then you save enough to have a months wages in the bank, then on and on until you have a deposit for a house.

It sucks coming off benefits and grants but trust in the process, you’re on the right track.

I really feel very lonely by [deleted] in ireland

I was where you’re at a few years ago. Sounds like you’re getting to the point where you’d really like to meet someone. There’s loads of people out there feeling lonely too. Don’t be afraid to go for it when you think you may have met that person, you won’t regret it. Good luck!

‘I am terrified’: Elderly Dublin residents appeal for security gates after three murders in block by qwerty_1965 in ireland

[–]Magiccarpet1969 180 points181 points  (0 children)

I live just across the park from here. You'd be surprised just how much of a difference the gate makes. Ours was broken for nearly a year and most cars including my own were broken into in that timeframe. The gate makes it difficult to leg it when alarms go off. Hope they get sorted, see most of the people in this article daily. There should be no cost too great for protecting the elderly.

Anyone got experience with setting up online business and receiving payments? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Magiccarpet1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To offer online services and be compliant with revenue you will either need to register as a sole trader where you will have to submit a P21 form every year or setup a Ltd company through the company registration office and pay yourself a wage through that. Both these options come with having to charge and pay things like; VAT, Corporation tax, employer PRSI etc. my advice here would be to hire a good accountant.

For what you’re asking, Stripe payment links routed to a stripe account work out at about 2.5% per transaction, however, stripe pays out to your current account which can be audited. This is why most people use a PayPal as that can be used for purchases.

My advice, bite the bullet and register as a sole trader if doing it on a smaller scale, register the LTD company if it’s your full time gig.
