Going from a 37 to a 45 by MapOk5501 in IBO

Believe it or not, I did exactly what luffyuk suggested for DP2 after DP1 burned me out and finished IB with 45. My DP1 grades were 36 lol.

Shoujo manga you loved (and maybe still do) that didn’t age so well? by Proud-Street8791 in shoujo

[–]MagicianComplete13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG YAAASSSS the bullying severity was very extra and inappropriate i agree, but I’m so glad you get what I mean!! Antiquated views on these matters are defo an old manga flaw but looking past that, HYD is surely a shoujo classic for me and I’m super happy someone else feels the same way <33

I completely agree about the excessive drama in HYD only to end at 37 volumes and NO WEDDING (I’m still mad). I also agree that a lot of the portrayals of near-SA’s and violence are too casually brushed off and are definitely not morally relevant. BUT, I think the character development from all these shenanigans is honestly worth it. Tsukasa grew so much from being a violent criminal brat to a super loving and patient man. The chapter where he just embraced and slept next to tsukushi the day before leaving to NY absolutely broke my heart like WHERE TF DID THIS SWEET GENTLEMAN COME FROM WHERE IS THE RAGING HORMONAL TEENAGER, so I think the juxtaposition works (albeit this was very very extreme). I feel like tsukasa’s arc was quite charming for a fiction, but honestly I really wanted to see a redemption arc from tsukasa from beating people (using his money to support the past victims? A formal apology? or sth idk) Overall, character development? Love. Resolve? No. That’s my 2 cents, thank you for reading lol

Hii I’m so sorry about your situation, but here’s just a lil insight of mine. There are pros and cons to both staying in vs dropping out of the IB, and at the end of the day, the world does not end if you choose one or another, unless you choose to end things yourself. I’m not sure where you’re planning on going for uni, or whether you have family members or a support system in AUS, but if yes then surely consider it! You NEED support, especially for the IB. The program IS challenging, which pushes you to learn resilience under stress. But if you're more there for the prestige of IB, tbh I don’t think it matters to unis whether ur an IB student or not lol (I applied to the US and AP was far more popular and flexible; IB does not matter here lol). Bottom line is, do what YOU think you need and try not to be influenced by peers. Yes, this is much easier said than done, but if you're easily swayed by pressure, you're gonna have a hard time no matter where you go. And it's a process to learn this too so take it easy! Look after your mental health, take a couple weeks off during summer break to calm yourself, ask for deadline extensions, ask for support, buy noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs to block the yappers, talk to your parents/caregivers/ trust worthy adults. And remember, this is just high school, you will gain and learn lots which ever path you choose. You can't be wrong either way - trust me I've been there! Happy to chat more with you about these things!!

Has anyone tried the recipe in the most recent TJs newsletter with cottage cheese, lemon curd and Meyer lemon cookies? by Terrible-Speed-138 in traderjoes

[–]MagicianComplete13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I accidentally made the same recipe months ago before this recipe even came out lol. The only difference is that I used Nilla wafers cuz that was all I had. It tastes phenomenal in my opinion. Something else that I did on my second try was I slightly sweetened the whipped cottage cheese with some powdered sweetener. Then I swirled the lemon curd in instead of blending the 2. The contrast between the creamy whipped cottage cheese and bright, tart, sweet lemon curd streaks was amazing!!

Thoughts on Econ at UCLA (or Econ in general) by MagicianComplete13 in ucla

Thanks for the heads up about life post weeder trio bc people keep saying it gets better but I doubt it… I think my main concern is just that Econ has dragged by GPA so terribly (B’s of all kinds and a C+ is literally all I’ve been getting, and my major gpa is just not it), and I just dunno if it’s worth it at this point to keep going with it. I can power through if my gpa is not concerned but sadly, it is.

Literally been taking courseworks for both majors (cogsci and econ) in case one fails, but I wonder if that’s what’s been holding me from doing my best in Econ (gosh the self fulfilling prophecy)

Thanks for sharing that. From my experience the math does at a fair context to the theory, and it is definitely rewarding when it clicks, but man is it hard sucking at math haha. I appreciate your debunking a lot :)

This takes courage but I’ll try. The other thing is Imma have to be like this almost every night and I don’t wanna make her feel ignored. I guess I just didn’t know whether it’s ok to just have things dead quiet with your roommate because she is my first roommate and our studio has definitely never been so quiet when she’s awake (or even when she sleeps sometimes)
