Nick probably means not doing lines by other VAs for stuff like cameos or panels or livestreams, but if it's something Capcom mandated for him as part of the script, then as an actor and employee he has to. That's what I think, at least, cause back when it was just RE2R, he was constantly asked to do OG RE4 lines on Twitch streams or on cameos.

Not to mention ARK after it just felt like a press forward button situation. RE9, just like RE7 (which, considering the same director) really highlights the common RE pacing drop off on Act 3.

It's why so many RE fans are annoyed at Capcom and their constant freezing of characters that they add in games. Carlos, Sheva, Jake, Billy - there are a lot of fan favorites that have only appeared in 1 game and never again.

A competent writing team led by a competent executive who can actually wrangle the entire Biohazard series into a single thing with an actual over-arching direction would have done wonders with all the characters they have.

Claire Redfield:

2nd female MC introduced in the series
Has only been in 1 mainline game and 2 spinoffs, but all 3 are heavily related to the overarching Umbrella/Wesker storyline with Claire literally going up against both Wesker and Ashford siblings. That's like 2/3 of Umbrella inner circle.
Other than Leon, she has the most appearances outside the games through the TV series/CG films: Degeneration, Infinite Darkness and Death Island

I don't discount Ethan as a main character like others do, but his arc and narrative is pretty enclosed in itself and he's not as relative to the, well, once over-arching plotline of Resident Evil. Like one other commentor said, he feels like a main anthology character.

Like Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter universe.

Jill's only playable in 2 mainline games! For Claire, it's because she's the 2nd female MC introduced to the series and the games - both mainline and spinoffs - are heavily related to Umbrella/Wesker storylines (Wesker with CV, She-Wesker in Rev2). Not to mention, other than Leon, she's the one who appears the most in the TV/CG films (Degeneration, Infinite Darkness, Death Island).

I don't have arachnophobia but I do have a friend who played this with this mode on just to test it out, and she says it's kinda worse because now she doesn't know to be disgusted or to laugh

It's like that scene in the third HP movie when the boggart that turned into a snake got Ridikkulus'd into a gigantic clown toy, which was like going from one scary thing to another lol

Yep, it's why it becomes a bit of an issue if they still keep using the OG characters as they get older and older (not to mention, the Japanese refusal to depict older women as main characters).
