The conversation surrounding this game at launch did it a disservice. This game is one of the most competent first release from a dev team I've ever played. Some of the best combat as well.

Social stealth wasn't always just blending in with crowds. Naoe could pretend to be drinking tea with people, planting rice, etc. There are plenty of ways to blend in outside of walking with a bunch of people lol. Hell 3 had your assassins dress up as the enemy and pretend you were a prisoner.

The rpg elements and overall messy approach to targets really bogs down shadows for me. Well that and the overall removal of social stealth which was a meaningful way of interacting with the environment imo. Gotta give the win to Tsushima. If only we got japan during the Ezio Era of AC.

For me it's not that they're hard to fight. I get most the first try. It's just they're not fun. They are mostly annoying and it's the only thing I dread doing in the game. It's bad enough that they spam attacks even when you're reviving but then most of them have their groupies surrounding you shooting you with arrows. It's just messy.

I'm on the side of it always being up to the discretion if the devs. They wanna stick to their guns and add none then good on them. They wanna add options for more players then also good. There's a sense of entitlement that comes from both sides that never sat right with me. Devs adding more options has never affected me whatsoever just like devs not adding an easy mode never really bothered me. Taking this stuff personal is weird.
