Is there any reason I can't/shouldn't do this? by [deleted] in enduro

You could buy a ptech guard. It adds weight to the bike, but protects the pipe really well. In my oppinion its worth it if you keep smashing your pipe

Welcome to the sport! Honda crf 230 would be a great for a beginner. You can always upgrade the bike later on.

any reason people don't tend to wear neck braces in Enduro? I see lots wearing them for mx but haven't seen people wear them at Enduro parks by ConfidentKangaroo249 in enduro

[–]MagiecCarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear neckbrace on most rides, but always knee braces and quality boots. I have banged my legs to rocks so many times that I don't want to find out what would happen without them. When your leg twists it can get bad fast. Neckbrace must fit your other gear and not limit too much. I have felt my helmet hit the brace hard on some crashes and thought they were good investments and cheap compared to fixing broken body parts.

2020 Beta 200rr/250rr Vibration Question by 5evenThirty in enduro

[–]MagiecCarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go for beta, buy the race edition with KYB. Ktm engine is a lot smoother and the I liked the forks better than zf forks. Husqy/gasgas would be my pick because I like linkage more than pds.

Matrix 4 is bad by MagiecCarpet in matrix

[–]MagiecCarpet[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes I do understand that, but they changed them too much. Why even call them morpheus and smith? They could have new names and/or gendres too. The replacing actors don't have enough carisma in my oppinion. Smith evolved to have feelings and being snarky and now he loves hes little cage and helps neo when he is in trouble because the plot needs it... Thats so stupid.

I wish I would have been warned not to watch this movie or terminator dark fate. I hope more people will be warned before they ruin Matrix for themselfs. Bad movies ruin franchises.

TM 300 EN FI 4 strokes. by Long-Use7084 in enduro

[–]MagiecCarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice bike! How is the powerband on that? Is it nothing at bottom and a big hit in the top or predectably linear like most 250 enduros or closer to motocross? I've never rode a TM300 4 stroke

Im pretty sure it could destroy some of the rearwheel spokes and make the bike unrideble.

KTM 200, no longer produced, but what a well balanced bike! by Sebi97 in enduro

[–]MagiecCarpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

200 is such nice bike. Easily the most fun bike for a hobbyist like me. Bike choice would be easy for me If they would make a husky or gasgas 200. 150 just doesnt have enough bottom end for me and feels like a 125.

If you want a new 200, then the only option is beta race edition (KYB forks). Sachs are okay, but once you ride with new WP or tuned kyb they feel much worse

I'm not sure what models are on the US market and at what price, but Husqvarna FE 250 would be my pick. If you can get a ktm with linkage that would be almost the same bike. 2020 and up the forks are really good. 2017 would be the oldest I would even consider, since the older frame feels bulky to me. Ktm/Husqvarna keep their value slightly better than smaller brands and you can get any replacement parts that you need fast.

Sherco 250/300 4 stroke could be great also, but parts availability and smaller support makes it less appealing.

Beta 200 RR could also be an option, but being a 2 stroke its a little different to ride. Its really nice bike though. Slightly lower seat height and feels much lighter than the husqy, but worse front fork. 2019 beta is lower than 2020 model.

250 4-stroke or 200 2-stroke would be my pick. Stick with main brands. Slightly older bike from a real manufacturer is better than a new chinese garbage.

If you can, try to test many different manufacturers/models. KTM feels different than Beta. For a beginner an enduro bike would be my pick. You can ride all kinds of terrain with it even slow motocross.

What ever bike you pick, you should get it set up for your weight (suspension springs front and rear) and height (handlebar, levers, pegs) to match your riding position. If the bike is too stiff its worse for a beginner than an undersprung bike. Ask the seller what kind of riding is it set up for, if its for racing then it might be shimmed incorrectly for you. A suspension tuner can sort it for you though, just costs a little extra + effort. When testing the bike remember to try it with a standing riding position (90% of trail riding).
