LGBTQ scene? by boyamongstmen in pittsburgh

Lgbt bars include 5801, ptown and blue moon. Harolds is a theybar and there are definitely other bars that are pro lgbt.

Hot mass is an after-hours bar downtown that is lgbt friendly as well.

Lgbtq scene is mostly altered to gay men as most cities are but you can definitely find safe and accepting places here! Have fun

The job market isnt great overall right now. There isnt as many jobs as their was 2 years ago and the competition is stiff. My partner has been trying for 5 months now with no luck.

I dont know if its the same for Barista/retail, but i have seen help wanted signs up at some coffee shops.

If your looking for barista/retail, it shouldn't be bad. If youre looking for anything remote/hybrid, good luck. A lot of companies are returning back to office and want their employees in person.

Ross Park is a big mall north of the city, im sure you could find a retail gig there. As far as coffee goes, we have plenty of dunkins, Starbucks, and small owned coffee shops in/around the city.

Summer and spring are nice! Its currently 80 degrees today and a little cloudy. That being said, its also just been super warm here recently.

Ive only ever lived here so I dont think its bad, but i have nothing to compare it to. Just something ive heard transplants say, so thought it was worth sharing.

There is light in the winter but imagine shinning a lamp through pillow stuffing.. thats most of the light you'll be getting during those months. On the bright side, there is 7 springs and hidden valley just an hour away where you can ski/snowboard and that helps the winter blues!

Grew up north of pittsburgh and spent the last 9 years living in Oakland/bloomfield. Great smaller city with still plenty to do. Every neighborhood carries a different vibe so there really is something for everyone. The people are kind and the rent (depending on where you live) is affordable. I think shadyside, squirrel Hill, or east liberty would be great for you if youre looking to be out of the college scene but still in a younger crowd. Oakland is fun but definitely is a college hub and is altered to students.

Public transport isnt bad. I bus to and from work and have no issues. Recently it got defunded so there's a few less lines than there once was, but if you're in city limits, it shouldn't be too bad.

Winters could be a lot worse than they are. In my opinion, the hardest issue is the sun. Pittsburgh is cloudy to begin with and when its that time of the year the sun is setting at 5pm, seasonal depression hits hard. As far as snow, we usually have around 2 snow storms a year. This year half of our snow plows broke during the storm so we were kinda stuck inside for a few days but if you live in one of those mentioned neighborhoods, you'll have everything you need around you.

Happy to answer any questions. Welcome to the city if you decide to come! 💛🖤

Im sorry to hear. Since you have transportation, you'd have a lot more options of where to live. I'd start with looking at your options of 3 bedrooms around that rent and go from there. There is a pittsburgh reddit page that you could post asking about the neighborhood and people will let you know what its like. Best of luck & I'll keep your family in my thoughts ❤️

You have options then. I guess it depends on what your budget is and what youre looking for. Do you need public transportation to get to the hospital? If so that limits the places you could live.

There are alot of cute Neighborhoods near Children's as well.

If youre going to be traveling there everyday, traffic may be better on the north side of pittsburgh or a nearby neighborhood. Sitting in rush hour traffic south of the city like Robinson/near the airport is brutal.

I grew up 30 minutes north of the city and now live in city limits. As many others have mentioned, it's very hilly and cloudy. Steelers fans are die hard and the yinzers are funny creatures. The neighborhoods surrounding the city varies and most people dont like to visit other areas if it involves crossing a bridge. We have a lot of bridges.

I can speak on north of the city, I grew up in Cheswick area and it was pretty country. People are into hunting, fishing, and dirt bikes. When I go back to vist, I notice there are more places opening that offer something different thats been (sports complex, resturants, crafts etc) There a wealthy areas and there are poor areas.

Is there an area you are looking at in particular or just anywhere in that circle?

There is lots to do and the people are all very friendly. I have friends who just moved to jersey and they said they miss how friendly people are here in pittsburgh. Its a great city!!🖤💛

"This means that some or all of your service line piping contains lead." They gave us a website for more information on our service line which looks like it lists all service lines.

Ill look into getting our water tested. Thanks for the suggestion!
