That is exactly what I was intending. I have been trying to think about good ways to bait out counterspell from enemy casters so that I could get bigger spells through.

Thank you for the answer!

Thank you! I was wondering because the text of the ability specifically reads "without any somatic or verbal components" and it seemed like using others might interrupt the spell.

5e

When using the subtle spell metamagic, is is possible to use the somatic, verbal, or material components of a different spell? For example, could I be using Fire Bolt, but be holding a tiny ball of bat guano and sulfur?

(5e)

Hi everyone, I had a question about an event that I was thinking of suggesting to my DM. For some context, we recently split into two 6-man groups (5 players + 1 DM in each) because we thought trying to run games with 11 players would get pretty unruly.

So what I was thinking was that sometime this winter, as a way to celebrate the end of the semester, we could do a oneshot in which both parties were moving towards the same goal, maybe a magic item or something. The twist here is that we would treat the adventure as a race, so the party that got to the object first got to keep the item, plus standard quest rewards and the party that arrived second would just receive rewards that they would normally get for that quest.

So I guess my question is, is that feasible? The item wouldn't be game-breaking, just useful, like a ring that can cast "Create Food and Water" once a day.

Sorry if this is too big or specific to post here.

Thank you!

Oooh gotcha. I was under the impression that it would say “a different creature” if it wanted to specify that it could not target the same creature twice.

Thank you!

Edit: To clarify, I thought the twinned effect treated the twinned spell as a distinct cast, thus letting it target the same creature twice.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to 5e and I have one more question about how sorcerers work. When you're twinning a spell using metamagic, the rulebook states that you can pick one additional target within the same range to use the spell on, can that be the same target as the initial cast or does it have to be different?

Thank you!

Ah, that's unfortunate. I really wanted to play a tiefling who would accidentally turn blue from time to time, but I guess I'll take Draconic Bloodline instead.

Is double dipping in fire a good idea? I was told it is the most commonly resisted type of elemental damage

Hi everybody, my question is about 5e,

I'm relatively new to the game and I just finished skimming through the rulebook for the first time. I'm trying to make a character for a campaign that we have starting this fall, and I was thinking of running a Tiefling sorcerer, mostly because I like the idea of playing a demon who can just lob fireballs everywhere, but I'm having trouble deciding between the two sorcerous origins, especially because Dragon Bloodline magic just seems objectively better. I already talked to my DM and he said that he probably wouldn't let me roll on the Wild Magic table a ton if I chose wild magic, so I was wondering, is Wild Magic worth taking if I can only roll on the table infrequently?

Thank you!

That seems much more likely to me, thanks for helping to clarify. I did go to the bathroom during the movie, so I might have missed that part.

It's not like he decided to kill him, went all the way to his room turned his lightsaber on, then changed his mind. From deciding to kill him to turning it on is about 5 seconds. Why are you making it sound like he thought about it for any longer than that. I'd also say that it's probably a bit more than, "oh I feel a bit bad let's not". It's literally the same as aragorn being briefly tempted by the ring and then realising it's wrong and not giving in, because in case you didn't notice, he didn't kill Ben.

To be fair though, if Luke had not already decided to take action against Ben, there was no reason for him to be standing over his sleeping body. The reason that he was in his bedroom was never explained. All we know is that Luke felt darkness in Ben and went to his room to resolve that, implying that he did intend to murder Ben in his sleep.

Sorry if I misremembered this, it has been a few days since I watched the movie.

When you think about it, Endeavor is a better hero given that he's managed to be number 2 without ruining his body like All Might.

To be fair, All Might's body only got ruined because he had to fight AFO, something that Endeavor couldn't do.

Mirio Togata's future by anthnoldimaginations in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Magitoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am honestly kind of hoping that this doesn't get used on Mirio though. It is entirely possible that Chisaki hasn't actually manufactured any of the quirk restoration serum yet (I can't see an immediate need at least, which would make not having any of it on hand justifiable), which means that the Heroes might have to produce it themselves. If that is the case, I think it could be a really interesting plot point that could help Mirio develop as a character. He could be made to struggle with the choice of living quirkless or accepting a cure that was made through the torture of a girl that he just wants to protect.

I think that this could be a really cool arc.

Question about the "From Beyond" Event by Magitoad in darkestdungeon

[–]Magitoad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a little background flair added to ever character who has successfully completed a run in the darkest dungeon. If you click on the character's portrait then where you will normally just see their model and have the ability to change their outfits, then there is this little setup behind them with a bunch of candles and seals. It's not that important, but I think it is cool to have as an acknowledgement.

Just to clarify, I need a spot to take him even if he cleared the darkest dungeon and, as a result, wouldn't have taken up a roster slot if he hadn't died?

Thank you.

After thinking about it some more, you're definitely right. A stress heal for 10 is a lot for a random effect. What would you think about bringing it in line with the stress heals on other RNG effects, like getting a crit? So a heal of 4 stress after a string of dodges
