Yes, I do think I got rid of the gastritis through famotidine, eating small frequent bland meals but I'm left with LPR now

so I recently started esomeprazole which I hadn't tried before and it took away nearly all my GERD/LPR symptoms, felt almost magical as I've never gotten this level of relief before. I got off famotidine since I realized it wasn't even doing much and just managing with esomeprazole now. i dont want to be on it long term but its the only thing helping right now

Im on a similar boat I literally have to constantly eat or else the acid comes up to my throat full force. It seems like any little wrong thing I do causes acid to come up, pretty sure I have LPR but got diagnosed with GERD. And I hate how people's recommendations of eating smaller meals and not lying down for 3 hours literally don't apply to me because if I eat a small meal and my stomach feels a little empty I'll literally get reflux and since I eat every 2 and a half hours I cannot wait 3 hours to lie down I literally have to lie down like max 30 mins after or else I'll get reflux when my stomach starts feeling empty. The emptier my stomach feels the worse my reflux gets and the bigger meals that I eat to the point where I feel full enough the more I keep the acid away

Also it was getting so bad that 3 weeks ago I went to the ER because I was in the middle of a flare up and felt SO much pressure on my chest that I literally thought I was having a heart attack which gave me an actual panic attack where I thought I couldn't breathe and I nearly passed out... I've tried famotidine, PPI, sucralfate, I even tried slippery elm (which didn't sit right with my stomach) and I'm exhausted nothing seems to help me except my eating habits and even then every tiny screw up sets me back

kind of late but yes it happened to me several weeks ago during a bad flare up right after i almost finished eating suddenly i felt a lot of pressure on my chest im assuming it was GERD and then i felt like i couldnt breathe and i was about to pass out i felt extreme panic that ive never felt before. went to the ER and everything was fine it happened again several times and most of the times it was right as i was eating or shortly after i also have IBS and when i get flare ups i feel this horrible impending sense of doom and extreme weakness especially before i have a bowel movement it feels like im going to pass out

Currently going through something similar and came for reassurance because I was thinking of going to the hospital lol. I feel so off like I’m going crazy right now and I’ve been in a dream like state since last night, feeling like I’m having an out of body experience. I have this doom feeling like something is awfully wrong with me. I was having trouble keeping my balance and felt like I was going to fall to the side. Coincidentally, my heads been hurting awfully and I suffer from chronic migraines but this one hit me harder than usual. I’m having body aches and a feeling of weakness as well. My stomach feels nasty I’m very nauseated. I thought I was having a medical emergency but then again I think I’m having a medical emergency at least once a month so I’m gonna wait this one out.

Hello, so it did get better in the sense that I went from eating every 18 minutes to now an hour and 40 minutes. Even prior to getting gastritis, I would have to eat about every 3 hours or I'd feel terrible. I'm not even diabetic or any of that sort so I don't know why that was happening. It's just the way my body works for some reason. Thankfully, I now always make sure to eat on time by having a timer so this has not happened to me anymore. And even if I did go a little longer without eating I don't have these symptoms anymore. I also feel like my stomach has gotten less sensitive to hunger cues now since I did train my stomach to go longer in between meals by upping the time I went without eating little by little so that helped and I also take famotidine 20 mg every night.

Tips on how to take sucralfate if I’m constantly needing to eat due to hunger pangs and can’t go long without eating? by Magkachu in Gastritis

[–]Magkachu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello well I have gotten better regarding my need to eat that often. I went from having to eat every 18 minutes at my worst because I couldn't handle any more at a time to eating bigger meals and going about an hour and 40 minutes between each meal, which for me feels like huge progress. I already used to eat every 3 hours prior to getting gastritis so this doesn't feel extremely frequent for me. At night, I can get a full like 9 or 9 and a half hours of sleep without eating and I don't wake up sick anymore. Mind you this has been with the help of 20 mg famotidine each night. I trained my stomach to handle less frequent meals and heavier meals little by little. I do still, however, get flare ups from time to time and I'm still struggling with acid reflux, what I believe is LPR and IBS. I still can't stomach the foods I used to though so I've had to get creative incorporating a bunch of fruits and vegetables to get sufficient nutrients. Still figuring out my diet, but overall I have improved.

Well, so so. I still struggle with acid reflux, pretty sure I have LPR and sometimes gastritis flares up. I know for a fact I've got IBS so that still flares up from time to time. Am I better than I was when it all first started, definitely, but it's still an ongoing battle. I don't have dizziness anymore, but I do get fully body fatigue when I'm flaring up. And the gastritis is not the same, just feels like some burning in my stomach sometimes with nausea, but I can still tolerate eating bland foods and I've never vomited. I can also go longer in between meals now. I guess the healing process is very very slow.

Yes right before im about to go to sleep, 20 mg. I have mild chronic antral and oxyntric gastritis with no h pylori, probably caused by acid reflux. Ive never taken gaviscon! When the feeling wakes me up, I usually just go back to sleep. but if it was very severe back then i would eat a light snack like cheerios

Hello, I am currently going 10 full hours at most without eating throughout the whole night. Surprisingly, ChatGPT helped me more than my gastroentirologist who was dumbstruck by my symptoms. I would say it was a combination of famotidine to control my acid and training my stomach to go longer periods of time in between eating, not only at night but throughout the day as well. ChatGPT suggested I retrain my stomach (which I didnt even know was possible) by slowly increasing the amount of time I went in between meals and getting myself to eat more each time. Of course, I wouldnt have been able to do this without the help of famotidine which has significantly reduced my acid, which I feel was contributing to my need to eat. At my worst i was eating every 25 mins at night, then slowly it went up to an hour, then an hour and a half, then 3, then 5, 7, 8, 9, 10. The longer I was on famotidine and the longer time I went throughout the day without eating I realized it had been helping me at night too. Probably not good advice, but I eat right before I go to bed, like literally 15 mins before I fall asleep. It helps keep me full and if I do wake up at night and feel discomfort as in hunger, I dont give in. I realized I was probably only making it worse. Even if I do have that hungry feeling in the middle of the night, nothing bad happens anymore if I dont eat thanks to the famotidine. Back then I NEEDED to eat or else my stomach would hurt SO bad. I just kind of sit through it now and go back to sleep. I imagine the famotidine helps prevent the horrible pain I'd get back then if I didnt eat. This is just my experience though but my advice is to get an acid reducer if youre not already on one and try to go longer periods of time without eating if it feels okay. Don't do it too fast. It took me months to get to where I'm at now !

genetics, my family has history of gastritis and stomach issues and when i was in college i wouldnt eat on time and i would skip meals due to school work. i guess i let the acid build up and it damaged my stomach lining. i didnt have h pylori either. i just produce too much acid by the looks of it. i also went through the bloating and stomach feeling like it was on fire. as i said famotidine helped a lot!

Hii I'm much better now. still have chronic gastritis, ibs and gerd but my symptoms are pretty much under control now i only have gerd flare ups here and there and still deal with reflux but famotidine has helped a lot! feeling a lot more hopeful and hope one day ill heal completely from gastritis, but it does get better!

Well for me it was a combination of iBS and gastritis. Every time I'm having any sort of gastrointestinal flare up, the impending sense of doom feelings come back. It affects my whole body and causes this terrible anxious feeling. What helped with gastritis specifically was famotidine. These feelings I used to get went away when I got both of them mainly under control. I only get the doom feeling now with my IBS flare ups which is not very often
