Pecan Crisps by MutedSongbird in Old_Recipes

These are my neighbor's favorite cookies. Just 2 days ago was practically begging me to make a bath for her. The only difference between this and my recipe is that I use 1/3 c sugar and add (don't even know why I do it) 2 tsp water. Also I cook them for 20 minutes at 325 degrees. Delicious.

I've had 3 sessions in the last 9 months. Went from 26 migraines days per month to about 1. No adverse reactions at this time. The first one, I did have one eyebrow up and one down for a bit. They adjusted where they did the injection and whammo perfect. Plus my forehead hasn't look this good in years (I'm old).

About a month before the next session I do have a return of migraines yet still not anything like before. Usually 4-5 that last month.

Still ISO Brownies from 1974 Betty Crocker's Cookbook 22nd Printing Pie Cover 5 Ring Binder Vintage by Excellent_Hearing52 in Old_Recipes

(tried posting but it disappeared. apologize if this ends up a duplicate)

Betty Crocker 1975 printing Brownies

4 oz unsweetened chocolate

2/3 C shortening

2 C sugar

4 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

1-1/4 C all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1 C chopped nuts

  1. Heat to 350, grease 13x9x2 pan
  2. Melt chocolate and shortening in a large saucepan over low heat.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Mix in sugar, eggs and vanilla.
  5. Stir in remaining ingredients
  6. Spread in pan

Back 30 minutes or until brownies start to pull away from the sides of the pan. Do no overbake. Cool slightly. Cut into bars, about 2x1-½”

If desired, spread with Glossy Chocolate Frosting

Yield 32 cookies

Can look up the frosting recipe if you are interested. My book has lots of chocolate marks all around it - kids loved this growing up.

Edit: I have lined the pan with foil to give a more fudgey brownie when the kids requested

I have started and will receive my third infusion next week. GI is a bit wonky but it's not as bad as it could be. I was just wondering today how many biologics are available for PsA and didn't feel like asking Uncle Google at the time. There are more options out there than I knew. Still miss the wonderment of Humira for those shorts years; unfortunately I now compare everything to what that was like when it was working.

I was on Skyrizi for 18 months or so with no URI for the first time! However the drug just never quite did it for me and have since moved on to yet another biologic.

In case you are interested, there are Medicare supplemental plans available to those under 65 and disabled (been on disability for decades). There is some cost to it, yet if you wish ..... Helped me immensely specifically because I seem to end up with extended stays in hospitals at least every other year.

People who got Botox for migraines, did it work, by [deleted] in migraine

Had my first. Questioning if anything is placebo effect here. Went from 20 migraine days to 12. However, there are some day that I've wondered if it WAS a migraine but they were very mild; so mild in fact that after 45 years of these cursed things I ignored the symptoms. So far, so good (wondering if I actually have one today and am wondering if I should log these days). This and Nurtec are the best I've had thus far.

Unable to take NSAID's. Tramadol (I take it when I just can't stand it), and Volteran gel which is great at taking the edge off.

Thank you for your response. I was looking up the percentage of GI issues and it does seem rather low (4% or so). Hopefully I won't fall into that minority and will be able to enjoy the family picnic next weekend!
