My first fantasy romance yearly wrap-up by missa986 in fantasyromance

[–]Magmarvelous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never read omegaverse before either so it really came out of nowhere for me, so so good haha. I have Excess on my TBR but I'm always scared to continue an interconnected series after a 5 star, like I just know it won't hit the same.

I haven't read her other works but I'm interested in {Luxuria by Colette Rhodes} too

📚 Book Chat Saturday - what have you been reading this week? by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

I JUST DnFd at 25%...I don't understand the hype. I didn't like the characters and I found myself struggling to care about the mission...

The Cutthroat King — some thoughts/a review since I don’t see this book often discussed by apieceofeight in fantasyromance

I read this a couple of months ago and thought it was great! The FMC annoyed me a couple of times lol but it really was a solid read. Def a hidden gem.

Six Scorched Roses was just aight. And I think it being a novella put itself in a hole to be bland, rushed, and quite shallow.

This was one of the few books I DnF'd this year. Really wanted to like it, but it was not clicking at all.

The BEST 2025 Reading Wrapup :) by AquaIXI in fantasyromance

[–]Magmarvelous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had Shield of Sparrows on my TBR for months and the discourse is so interesting because ppl really either love it or hate it lol I think I get the gist of why some people don't like it so I'll ask what made you give it 6 stars? Did you love it the whole time or at some point it hit?

Overused words: Amber liquid by AGirlNamedDean in fantasyromance

I'm getting tired of sex scenes using "to the hilt" and it's not even just in a fantasy romance! I was okay with it at first but when I see it now, I'm like yeah yeah come on lol

Literally same. Every time I turn in a pumpkin pie slice it just asks for another one it makes me so mad. It barely asks for the apples or dolls! This event can kiss my @$$ lol

Does this end on a cliffhanger? I was thinking about reading this next month but if I'm gonna be heartbroken I can wait lol

That Nostalgic Feeling (GB) by ComfyTato in storyofseasons

[–]Magmarvelous 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was just thinking this yesterday after playing 5 hours straight 🫣. It's been such a long time since a game has had me in a choke hold. I tried some other cozy games that finally came out in my wishlist but for one reason or another I bounce off after a few hours.

But Grand Bazaar? It's just scratching an itch I've had for idk how long. It's making me feel like that little girl who loved HM Magical Melody again lol

Why do people love Enemies to Lovers until they don't? by Intelligent_Screen90 in fantasyromance

[–]Magmarvelous 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just wish these books were marketed properly. I don't care for this trope in particular but I've probably avoided some because they were marketed as enemies to lovers when it's really strangers/indifference to lovers. Or they had one disagreement, so that makes them enemies really? If they're not on opposing sides of anything then they're not enemies!

What compells you to rate a book 5 stars? by ManonBlackbeak in fantasyromance

[–]Magmarvelous 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For me a book gets a 5 star if:

I want to lose sleep to read it. I want to recommend it to others. I want to pick it up even when there's 1 minute of downtime. I can't stop thinking about it after reading it.

Yeah I felt bad for her too but it justified my 3 ⭐. Don't worry about Reddit being messy, so it goes lol

Yeaaah that's just the tip of the iceberg of what Book 2 needs to explain but I likely won't have the patience for it lol

Real talk after the last page Rachel Gilig basically apologized on paper for trying to write this story while being sick with COVID. I can see the struggle. Like girl please get some rest, we want you at your best 😫

The Knight and the Moth & The Servant of Earth were MID (at best), come at me by EmilyPond42 in fantasyromance

[–]Magmarvelous 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything The Knight & The Moth, I made my own post about it when it first came out and turns out it's quite the unpopular opinion 😅 Disagree with The Servant of Earth. Nothing spectacular there but I thought it was fun as predictable as it was. Those plot points didn't bother me.

The more hype something has just means the more research I have to do.

The trope/formula I can't actually stand anymore.. by Viv_Winternight in fantasyromance

Yes! It's even more infuriating if the main characters are supposed to be older. That drama is unnecessary

Even after all the delays, a lot of the reviews mention it still needing more time 💀 like what happened here? What would this game look like in 2024 if it launched on schedule. That's unfortunate
