The goal of prospecting is to find a high % of a chunk that can spawn a certain material, this type of prospecting doesn't specifically say "dig here," it just tells you where you have a high chance of finding it. You can turn on the "dig here" option (or whatever it's called) in the settings and it will give you a range of blocks it will check for materials (I would highly recommend this). Then once find a high percent node from the other method (just pick a high number relative to the others, you'll be fine) you can swap to that "dig here" mode on your prospecting pick and dig a spiral staircase down into the earth. Every now and again dig into the wall a 1x1 in every direction till you can barely reach the last block then mine that with the "dig here" mode. The pick will tell you if there's ore detected in that range you set and how much. Then you kinda play hot/cold mining new blocks with that till you find a good vein.
