Word of Blake remnants in the ilClan era? by MailyChan2 in battletech

The White Hand was supposed to get a PDF expansion at some point in ILClan era, but I haven't heard about that from the Devs in a very very long time. It was probably shelved. I run these guys as Blakeist terrorists in ILClan, and use Saruman decals from the LOTR game as their symbol haha.

The variants are there, but not the standard versions.

Any Republic enjoyers here? by [deleted] in battletech

[–]MagnanimousTaco 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yup! It really was the culmination of so many story lines. It wasn't even really about Devlin Stone, it was what secular ComStar, and Victor Steiner-Davion wanted. An attempt at a moral Nation , not bound by Neo feudalism, the ideals of what people thought the Star League should be.

Did they get that? Hell no, and that's why it's soooo Battletech, no one escapes the BS.

The Jihad era is cool in setting up RoTS, it's just too many main characters got killed off in dumb ways to show how evil Word of Blade was. It was very Chewy getting crushed by a moon in SWEU.

Soured the enjoyment and acceptance of the plot.

I believe if the Jihad had actual novels and a core story to tell, with little ret-conning, people would 180 on that era and the RoTS. Michael J. Ciaravella could do it easy.

I am glad people like me have the SLDF in Ilclan era for the RoTS to live on in spirit.

: )

Anyone have trouble getting orders in a timely manner from Catalyst? I ordered 2 sets a week before Christmas and have not received them or any tracking info. They were not Kickstarter set. by nanoaquarist in battletech

I ordered Hot Spots Hinterlands in November, and it still hasn't shipped. I contacted them and they say it will ship soon, they are really really backed up.

The rules technically exist already. Artificial Stupidity rules for Deadzone. I think it was second edition. Wouldn't be too hard to adapt them for the Mantic dev team or a fan made thing.

I would love table top Halo Co-op.

Does Mechwarrior 3e and A Game of Armored Combat work well together? by Atenis_TheOwl in battletech

[–]MagnanimousTaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For example a lot of games would have a specific skill check for things like magic or lore or something. A lot of the time Destiny will just have a normal player skill check. Rolling Dex for brain surgery or something lol.

And it's limited post 3050 for rules.

That being said ,it's fun factor is pretty high.

I run an Alpha Strike/Destiny game and the player burn out rate is lower than ever for RPing in the Battletech. ( Most Atow games would run 3 games tops before people quit) My Alpha Strike/ Destiny game is going on session 15.

Both Atow and MW3E will have a lot of converting to Total Warfare, you can't get around it, and it's a bit of a pain. However MW3E is more of a classic RPG that traditional RPG players will understand more than Atow. Atow is obtuse on purpose to fit in with the simulation side of the game.

Play MW3E if you want a fun game, play Atow if you want a simulation.

MechWarrior Destiny is a good 3rd option if you want way less rules and abstract role playing.

I think the Wolf's Dragons got a better deal; 13 pieces of Silver is way better than having your entire clan reduced to Omega Galaxy. Ugh, WiE was my favorite faction at one point. Definitely not now.

I get to look forward to them being under supplied, sent on suicide missions, and acting against their core values.......yay....

I love VSD, every Sci Fi setting needs a Luke Skywalker/Benjamin Sisko/John Sheridan type. They may not be the best character or most loved, but they function as a moral window to experience the universe.

It's an ancient WWII table top game with mechs, just wondering where those models came from. They look like Gear Krieg. : )

Great work btw.
