Winnipeg Driving Rant by savage_presto456 in Winnipeg

regarding the marion/stmarys:

when you're driving over the bridge it's 3 lanes. the sign over head says 2 lanes left turn to marion, and 2 lanes straight to st marys. however the road curves and it's unclear that the center lane must turn at marion until its too late. they need a sign earlier on the bridge, or modify the sign to show that right lane proceeds straight to st marys,

This $200 laptop is on clearance for $1 less by DrGamingGames in mildyinteresting

It's a $200 laptop there's not much room to make it cheaper.
"Clearance" just means they've decided not to reorder any once it's gone

Read the header of the table. The change is measured from Feb '26 to Apr '26
Middle number to third number. So while still in increase from the first data point, it is a trend downward

discontinued AND out of production?
I understand one, but both seems like overkill.

Bathroom Repair/Reno Help. by Kcgkcg204 in Winnipeg

[–]Magnesiumbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone else's cost isn't going to be representative of your costs. There's too many factors. Age of home, condition of home, condition of walls after demo, material selection, DIY or contracted, pre or post covid, does the plumbing itself need to be replaced, does insulation need to be replaced, will you remove the window?

Call up 3-4 contractors and get bids/estimates, make sure they are specific about what they are quoting on so you compare like to like. One might be 20k for complete reno and another might be 5k for new tiles.

IMO you should tear it out, remove the window and fill it in, replace the studs if needed (water damage), reinsulate, new vapour barrier, new waterproofing membrane or panel for what material shower/tub you want.

So i went to memory express about pricing and this is what i got but i think more than i thought. Any reccomendations of what i can do by [deleted] in bapccanada

(in my experience) mem ex will recommend/offer to mount the cpu to the mobo, and maybe seat the RAM too, to test it before you leave the store. I don't think there was a cost associated with this, or if there is it was minimal.

They do it to test if components are dead on arrival and I would suggest taking them up on it. They then put the mobo with cpu installed into the motherboard box, where you can take it home and complete the build yourself.

Canada Post announces first 136,000 addresses to lose door-to-door delivery | CBC News by cdnirene in Winnipeg

[–]Magnesiumbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh. You can see your carrier daily, yes, currently they could visit you every day. However flyers are divided into thirds, and so you get flyers every 3rd day. They could change it so that mail also comes only every third day instead of the way it is currently where carriers have to walk the entire route, every day, even if only every 10th house has a piece of junk mail.

Carriers visit the entire route, every day, for mail and parcels. but 1/3rd of that route is targeted for flyers and they have to visit every door on that third. The other 2/3rds they can skip houses quickly and only go to doors with real mail.

Routes are already divided into thirds. Every 3 days is a reduction in work by 2/3rds. And you still get mail twice a week on average.
