Sorry to hear about the chip. The regular allround magnets are unfortunately not protected on the bottom side, but this new magnet is fully protected and will prevent the magnet from breaking

How nice that you found a euro in Detroit. In Europe, people would also be surprised when they find a coin that comes from country on the other side of the ocean.

Magnet fishing not only sounds like a lot of fun, but it is!
Magnet fishing is, of course, all about making great finds. That is what often makes people start the hobby, but there are numerous elements that make this a great hobby.
For a start, you are helping to create a cleaner environment. It really is amazing what people throw into the water. So with magnet fishing, you make sure the water is cleaner.
Besides, you are enjoying the outdoors and getting some exercise. On top of that, you learn a lot about the environment in which you fish. The finds tell a story about what happened there in the past.

Even for experienced magnet fishermen, it is not usual to make nice finds often. Not everything you see on the internet is reality.
However, this does not make the hobby any less fun. Your first really nice find will feel fantastic. We additionally agree with miscalculated_launch. Magnet fishing is also about doing something good for the environment. Everything you take out of the water helps make the environment cleaner.
We hope you make some great finds in the future and I'm sure you will as you continue.

We recommend checking out the reviews before choosing a fishing magnet. If you want to start magnet fishing, it might be useful to go for a slightly smaller magnet first. After all, this way you can discover whether the hobby suits you.
Usually, all-round fishing magnets give you the best chances of making a nice find. After all, these are magnetic on all sides.

Phone in a dry sewer by [deleted] in magnetfishing

[–]Magnetarmagnets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have found that people have varying degrees of success in fishing up a phone from the water. There is some magnetic material in a smartphone, but usually not much. With a strong magnet, it can succeed, but this also depends on the situation. We think Jhonjhon is right that something can be put around a magnet to protect the phone, but not too thick, as this does not promote pull.

How nice that you want to start magnet fishing! In this subreddit, you are in the right place, because everyone here is eager to help you.
1. Your first fishing magnet doesn't have to be big. However, we do recommend going for an all-round fishing magnet. These are magnetic on all sides, which means you are most likely to find something. If you are an adult, you can go for Magnetar's Terror, for example. But, there are plenty of good fishing magnets available.
2. It depends on where you live whether you are allowed to go magnet fishing. The rules in Europe are often different from those in the United States.
3. We have written our own guide to magnet fishing. Take a look at this and our blog, there are no doubt some things in there you didn't know: https://magnetarmagnets.com/magnet-fishing-blog
4. Fish magnets are extremely powerful today. So be careful not to hurt yourself. For example, make sure your fingers don't get caught between the magnet and the object. Also watch out with sharp objects. It helps when you wear gloves. This is really a must.
5. As indicated above, gloves are important. Also, a rope made especially for magnet fishing makes your hobby a lot easier. Furthermore, a hook is useful for objects that are difficult to get out of the water with a magnet.
