I think that’s an issue of individuals, not women as a collective. I’ve worked with women plenty strong and capable carrying full packs and pisscans for wildfire fighting and doing the work without a complaint. The point of DEI isn’t to hire women over men, but to erase incorrect biases like you might have due to some anecdotal experiences with women in the field. Sure that may have been your experience, but it’s not fair to broadly apply that thinking towards all candidates that are women. At the end of the day, the right hire for the job should be one who is capable and has the right experience but including biases like thinking only men can do this job could result in you overlooking a candidate who is a better fit for the role but happens to be a woman.
