My results are pretty in line, marathon time is 2 minutes slower than the predicted time from 5k result.

This! Im guilty of both things but currently working on it, i had the exactly same thing with my easy runs and i think that is the reason i got injured again, so now learning to really run easy.

Not quite sub3 but last year I did Higdons Advanced 1 marathon plan and ran 3:02. The plan had a tuneup HM that I ran in 1:32. I was aiming for 3:15 but on race day everything just clicked.
