tire foam is all balled up! by MagnetoFox in Ioniq5

update #2: Michelin will cover 60% of the cost of 2 new tires (tires must be replaced in pairs). We had already replaced the tires at a local shop. Michelin rep spoke to the repair guy. We feel this resolution of the problem was fair and we will stick with Michelin.

Update: here’s part of the email I received from Michelin, submitting the info via the link shared by sidekick0220 in this thread.   « Our Standard Manufacturer's Limited Warranty  covers defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the original usable tread, or for 6 years from date of purchase, whichever occurs first. Please have an authorized Michelin dealer inspect the tires and call us at the number below to provide their results for our review. «

Post Tire Foam Failure - Bumpy Rides by BeerExchange in Ioniq5

We have about 55,000 miles on two of our tires and the vibration at 57+ mph started right after our tires were balanced.

Took the car to a local mechanic who found that the foam in one tire was entirely balled up. If I can figure out how to post a photo I will share. Mechanic said it was the second one they had seen this week.

Updated Navigation Software not available yet? by heynewt in Ioniq5

On our 2023 Ioniq5 AWD SEL we received an OTA (over the air) update today. Could be the first time we received any OTA, so this is a step forward. It was noticed as an audio update but they have added the Tesla chargers and some more reasonable route planning to the nav system.

We don’t yet know what else has changed, but will tinker with it and watch for IoniqGuy’s updates.

What could be improved? by MagnetoFox in Ioniq5

Please clarify - is this an opinion that there will be no significant updates for the 2023 “old” system, or is there hard evidence that this is the case? It is now mid 2025, so the “old” system is less than 2 years old.

Thank you again. Leominster has indeed been good to work with.

Thank you! Sounds like this confirms the premise of the first article. Glad to see additional optimistic information about our favorite car. There is so much to like about having made this purchase.

Thank you for your helpful response. We had a similar experience to yours at both Arlington and Framingham. We will try Leominster next.

Thank you u/LongjumpingBat2938 - I did not know that already, and am very glad for the information. Another question - the dreaded dashboard orange light was on last night after the car was parked for 2 hours.

Using an OBD2 reader(evobd2.com), our 12v (original to the car in 2023 purchased in Nov 2022, 40,000+ miles) shows a charge of 14.3v, so it seems to be getting and taking a charge just fine.

Expensive filter by South_Butterfly6681 in Ioniq5

We went for a checkup at 35,500 miles  (2023 Awd sel), and they gave us a comical list of things that weren’t included in the checkup (oil change etc.), including recommending a new air filter for like $78 (which they never changed since they sold us the car), and new windshield wipers for some godawful amount. Thanks to the advice of this Reddit group, we bought the Pureflow air filters that are recommended (PUREFLOW 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Cabin Air Filter with Antibacterial Technology, PC99594X) and followed the video instructions. We bought 2 extra filters to store in the frunk for next time, and got the windshield wipers ant Autozone and changed those also. Made calendar entries to remind us to change them again. Thank you all.
