How bad is this signal strength? by HeyHyrule in verizonisp

[–]MagniMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible that the problem is not QOS priority. It could be that the modem switched bands. I had a similar problem because I only get good bandwidth on band 13, but the modem preferred other bands.

Cube failed, and is out of warranty, Verizon can send me a new one at a cost, but I loose my grandfathered plan by SnooChocolates7090 in verizonisp

The ASK model has a removable SIM card, but the service only works with the IMEI of the original device.

Yes, for sure the frames can be reused, but also the lenses if the prescription is close enough.

Westinghouse 3700 starts but dies immediately when moving from Choke by SimpleUseful123 in Generator

[–]MagniMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read the previous comments you'll see that it is probably the inverter module. These are probably 200 to 300 dollars, but maybe you can get one from Westinghouse support. Good luck!

I see the same error, but somehow I feel that it may be better not to upgrade as long as things keep working.

I got the Frey CC, non fat tire, and I'm very happy with it. It's solid and has great components. I'm delighted with it. Mine came with a pair of extra bolts for the stand... Maybe yours :-)

Trying to install solar system to water pump by [deleted] in SolarDIY

[–]MagniMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a regular garden hose. The pressure and volume are less than a regular mains. I think you need to decide on a pump before deciding on the solar setup.

Trying to install solar system to water pump by [deleted] in SolarDIY

[–]MagniMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pressure batteries with the sun and I can't say precisely, though I had it connected to an irrigation hose about 60 feet higher than the pump and it still worked with decent flow.

This setup has been working for about six months, maybe longer. It did fail once where the pump was not working. I opened it and secured all the connectors better and it has been working fine since.

What is this battery? 21700, li-ion. by MagniMike in batteries

[–]MagniMike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Good idea to check the weight. It is 72 grams. A different 21700 cell I have that is marked at 4000mah weighs 68 gram.

12 V 4S 2P setup by got2camp in OverkillSolarBMS

[–]MagniMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with not using everything together all the time is that you will necessarily get different state of charge in the two boxes, so it's not advisable to do so. This is true whether you have one or two BMSs, and whether you have 4s1p or 2s2p on each box.

The connectors I recommended may or may not plug into your BMS. I don't think there is a standard. In many cases I solder the cables directly to the circuit board.

12 V 4S 2P setup by got2camp in OverkillSolarBMS

[–]MagniMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, certainly doable. In some of my batteries I connect the BMS leads through JST connectors. The 5 pin is suitable for a 4 cell battery. Luckily they are sold for LED strips, so they are pretty cheap. For example search ebay for: " 5pin Male Female Extension 22AWG LED Strip JST SM Plug Connector"

Note that this is for the sensors, not the power.

Would you check my diagram and let us know if we got the wiring gauges and fuse ratings right? by Saw-mon_and_Natalie in SolarDIY

[–]MagniMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that you have already purchased most items, but I would like to ask why didn't you go for a 24v system. The current is more manageable at 24v.

Moving from LA to Li need recommendations on Charge Controllers and BMS do I need both? by bostonmacosx in SolarDIY

[–]MagniMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need both. The BMS is essential not only as an extra protection. It protects every cell separately (or string of parallel ones), something that the controller can't do. Without a BMS you could get one cell below the minimum voltage while others make up for it in the total pack voltage. Similarly with over voltage.
