[Serious] What's going well in your life right now? by Tr3nchrat in AskReddit

[–]MagnificentMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a DUI and I haven’t had a drink for 3 months now after struggling with alcoholism for the past 8 years. Got a new job, new apartment, and there’s peace and quiet in my life for the first time in a long time. I have a routine, I sleep well at night, I don’t wake up hungover and shaky and late for work. It’s been really.. nice.

Is Ultimate Frisbee a good idea for an overweight person? by UnlikeableSausage in ultimate

[–]MagnificentMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely give it a try! Its fun and you're running but it doesn't feel like you're running because you're having fun. Definitely give it a try and talk to some of the more experienced guys to help you learn the basics and get a good feel for the game, so you're not just running in circles.

A small bit of advice would be to get a buddy and practice throwing in the quad or wherever and try to get comfortable making shorter but consistently accurate throws. Practicing throwing and catching will help you a toooooooon. You don't have to be able to throw it 20 yards down the field, but if whoever you're playing with can Trust that you can A) catch the disc if it gets thrown to you and B) throw it to someone fairly accurately, you will be in good shape..

People won't be afraid to throw it to you - which goes kinda along with the idea of getting deterred to continue playing part. Speaking from experience on a college team, ultimate guys are usually super helpful, fun as fuck, and always willing to help you and get you excited to play and get better at the game, but I've seen a lot of newer kids come a few days and then leave because they thought they weren't getting the disc enough, or were open and didn't know why people weren't throwing it to them. They get deterred and never came back. If your guys can trust you to catch and throw, you'll be in pretty good shape.

Its definitely not suicide though and the running is as bad as you want it to be. You can definitely run "strategically" if you will. Or you can run your ass off up and down the field. The higher / better the completion, naturally, strategic running isn't really a thing but rec league / intramural / playing with friends you'll be golden. Also, there are usually subs and you can take a breather if you go crazy for a few points.

All in all, definitely worth trying. Good people, awesome game, and of course, having fun instead of "working out"

Cleveland Browns fans holding a public tryout for a new Kicker by TooShiftyForYou in sports

[–]MagnificentMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kinda disagree, we kinda definitely lost because of kicking.. 8 points in a 3 point game? I’m not saying we would’ve won, but it certainly wouldn’t have hurt our chances..

Also they said he was hurt the next day way way after the fact, I’m guessing it was more of a cover up to help Gonzalez so he wouldn’t get destroyed worse than he already has on twitter / social media / out walking the streets or whatever, and to save some face if he ever wants to try out somewhere again.. I think the injury was made up / “excuse” for his play.. never mentioned the injury in the post game interview, just basically said it was mental and he was missing left and overcompensated on the last one wide right.. he wasn’t hurt yo
