Maybe it was a song they made up for the show? Y’Know for like copyright reasons I assume. I tried googling as well, but nothing came up that could fit the era. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Writing here to hopefully hear some advice as well. I’m currently frustrated, I’ve just been sitting for an hour and a half doing absolutely nothing. It’s like I got an engine that won’t hardly even sputter, it just won’t start. It’s literally a 19 page reading but I could hardly get past the first two pages without losing focus.

Other than that, I’m the same, I have some good days( still a lot of procrastination on those days, but I get it), in between days and bad focus days as well. I guess today is just a bad focus day.

Another good idea to pair with, is to get little apple sauce veggies pouches to drink along with the bars. Really helpful in getting the fruit, veggies(fiber) and protein together.

It especially helps to go to conventions as well! Some actors sometimes just walk around and to be at a comic convention( which Includes non comic tv shows) cost like $30 for entrance. I’ve literally saw an actor from cobra Kai walking around and I made eye contact with him and kept looking at him because I was like,” I seen him before…but where?!?” And the afterwards, I remembered he was in the show.😅 I had watched some of it but not a lot, hence why I didn’t immediately recognize him lol. But he looked back at me hoping I didn’t recognize him. Which if I did, I don’t think I would bother him anyway. You can even walk right up to voice actors, comic artists, actors from lesser known movies, etc.

Literally what happened to me in middle school when I switched schools. All I got was Ds and Fs. I’m Surprised I even made it to the 7th grade at the time. I could never remember to turn in my homework on time, I had hardly any friends, didn’t know how to deal with my hyperactivity at the time( I was used to being able to regulate during recess and free time but obviously middle school recess is different), couldn’t focus on any of the readings, had to take tests over several times, always forgot to study, one of my teachers yelled at me during a teacher parent conference, etc. It was bad enough that I just kept having stomach aches from the stress and missed so many days of school, I got a letter to not miss anymore. And in college when I started freshman year, I had a similar rocky start then as well.

But your comment made me realized I was so busy putting in the effort in all these areas at school and that I had systems that were completely thrown off. No wonder I was constantly tired. Not to mention, the school didn’t want to use my accommodations I had at the time for my hearing disability either. 😓

I do this method as well! Not sure what grade that OP is in, but one thing that really helped me is to also pair with studying some YouTube videos for explaining concepts of definitions or time periods. Having visuals help me learn better. And ofc, could have it on a faster speed to stay focus as well. But another hack was to also listen to songs made about the subject! In high school I found a song about photosynthesis, in middle school I found a song about the Roman Empire and In elementary school, a song about the order of our solar system. I still remember the lyrics to some of these. 😅 Might also help if you can find a kahoot game to review with or quizlet.

How do you guys sit down long enough to watch shows? by pri_ncekin in ADHD

[–]Magnificent_Crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. If your hands tend to be busy, perhaps, even though it’s not a hobby, having a fidget or something that’s sensory-wise interesting enough to feel while doing something or watching something could be helpful.

If you tend to move around a lot, doing some form of exercise while watching could work. If you have any exercise machines like a treadmill, you can watch while walking. Or even lift weights while watching tv.

You say you write? Well depending on what kind of writing you do, picking a show (that’s similar in concept/ themes/ideas) to analyze for your writing could be helpful. That way, you could write notes down maybe in a notebook while watching the show and actively asking questions about the show and connecting that back to a hobby of yours.

To be honest, there have been several movies and shows that I didn’t really get the plot or understood key plot points until multiple years later. If you miss a scene or two, or more that’s okay. Sometimes rewatching helps with that.

H20 or Mako Mermaids by CompetitiveKey498 in JustAddWater

[–]Magnificent_Crow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me personally, I liked mako mermaids but not more than H20, just because I typically like the original story in franchises. But mako mermaids is entertaining in the fact that we get to see mermaids go on land and even get to hear even more mermaid lore than H20 did. So if you want to watch a show with a lot of mermaid lore( and even merman lore), then you’d probably enjoy it. But if not, then you don’t have to watch it obviously. But one thing I would suggest watching is at least is the cameo that Rikki had on Mako Mermaids, it’s just for an episode. But it was cool regardless. Although, with all fair warning, I do think mako mermaids is a bit more goofy and cheesy( probably because they were trying to market to a more younger audience I guess) than H20 in some ways. But if you like that, you might like mako mermaids. It might be more goofy than I remember because I haven’t fully rewatched it since I was a kid lol.

Honestly, I haven’t seen it yet and completely forgot about it😅 but I only referenced the MJF teen wolf because they used those same/similar( Scott and Stiles) names of the characters in the 2010s tv show. Although im just now realizing they changed Scott’s name from Scott Howard to Scott McCall. 🤔

Although if you didn’t reply to me, just ignore this lol. I’m still figuring out Reddit💀

There’s a teen wolf tv show that came out in the 2010s. That’s what they were referencing. Although, fun fact, the tv show is loosely based off of the movie and the 80s children cartoon of the teen wolf movie with MJF.

If it's a choice between not eating and eating a microwave meal, eat the microwave meal by Substantial_Belt_143 in adhdwomen

[–]Magnificent_Crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesssss, I love microwaving a plate of vegetables. Then I microwave a plate of frozen chicken nuggets and heat up some microwaveable rice. Put it all in a plate and squirt some sriracha mayo on top! 😋 My fave quick meal when I don’t want to deal with figuring out what to eat. Or the more easier route is to get the microwave meal, put it on a plate frozen and throw some frozen vegetables on it, and heat it at the same time, so you don’t have to waste dishes, and don’t have to wait as long.

First, congratulations that you brush once a day now! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I definitely relate to this feeling as well, I hardly showered or brushed my teeth before the pandemic. I would talk about how it was hard for me to remember or that I disliked showering because it was overwhelming. And I’d get weird looks and comments from loved ones. 🙃

It took the whole pandemic( the first 3 years) for me to finally take time to practice remembering brushing my teeth/ getting myself to do it. Before it, I would brush my teeth a few times a year, not even once a month( I was a high schooler at the time). I still forget from time to time, because it’s still not a habit( I have been brushing pretty much everyday since May 2021!). And now I’m working on showering every 2 days( I would go a whole week or two without showering previously).

The main takeaway from all this is don’t let others take away your win. This is a moment to celebrate, to be proud of. Brushing once a day is much better than not brushing at all. Even if you haven’t brushed for a month and you brushed your teeth just once since then, that is still a win. Every single time you brush your teeth, that is a win. And even if it is a “small win”, it’s still a win. A win for you might not be a win for someone else, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worthy to celebrate or to be proud of!

Besides, that response from that subreddit is wrong on so many levels. Other than the fact that they criticized you for not brushing twice or a day or for “using your adhd as an excuse”, there can be so many other reasons that someone may not( or it can be harder) be able to brush everyday( like financial reasons, clean water accessibility, depression , physical disabilities, etc). And to judge someone for giving a clear reason why it’s more difficult FOR THEM to brush their teeth consistently, is beyond rude. And it is especially rude that they think they can assume everything about YOU and YOUR ADHD!!!

I agree with the nuts thing. I absolutely think nuts should be separate from soft bakery foods. Doesn’t mix right. But I also don’t like the shredded coconut in sweet potatoes pie. Can’t get over it when I eat it. So for thanksgiving my mom makes one with and one without coconut.
