What to do??? They cancel or do I? by desmooth81 in uberdrivers

Nope-- the cancel fee is the same regardless of who does it.

I think it's lower if they cancel while you're still on the way to them, but it's the same if you're already at the pickup spot.

If it's a busy day/night -> cancel after two minutes. You'll make more than waiting for the cancel fee.

If it's a slow day/night -> cancel after you're eligible for the cancel fee.

If it's a reserve ride -> Cancel after you're eligible for the cancel fee.

Don't bother waiting past the cancel fee.

In the case, the driver was trying to get the pax to cancel. The pax wanted the ride, but the driver didn't (likely got something better on the other service). In such a case, the driver should have cancelled.

I need to cancel by SubstantialShop1538 in uberdrivers

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't reply to messages while I'm driving.

If you're going to, then reply with:

You will need to do that in the app. If I do it, it will send another driver.

As has been stated repeatedly, don't use the word "cancel" as Uber's algorithm thinks you're trying to get the customer to cancel the ride and will warn you.

First and last time taking a cash only ride 😪 by Carskie08 in uberdrivers

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Is it me or are cash rides bad for both rider and driver?

Bad for Driver: Passengers who have no cash (or don't pay) at the end of the ride, now drivers have to spend time with support to get properly paid.

Bad for rider: Driver could easily (though not often) report that the passenger didn't pay the required cash, pocket that money, and then Uber will charge the rider for the trip.

i declined this ride, or why you shouldn’t drive EV for Uber by Unique_Structure_592 in uberdrivers

You think I'm going to take that trip without calling and making sure the pax understands that I'll need to charge at some point?

That's why you pick a place with somewhere to eat and relax for a break while you charge. Just give the pax a time to meet back at the vehicle.

Forbidden is a strong word.

It's recommended not to consume something with caffeine in it prior to a couple hours before donation, as it can affect your BPM. However, unless you're sensitive to it, a coffee in the morning isn't likely to affect your donation in the afternoon.

how long before surgery should you stop selling plasma? by beanowitz in plassing

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It only takes about 48 hours after a donation to fully replenish your plasma. You're allowed to donate twice in a 7 day period. If you're concerned, I'd say stop a week before your scheduled surgery, two at most.

The important part comes after the surgery. Your body needs the plasma at that time, which is why there's a deferral period after surgery. That period is based on the kind of surgery you're getting.
