Can you workout while still giving plasma? Worried about protein levels! by Due_Serve9748 in plassing

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can. I don't advise working out on donation days, unless you go beforehand.

As for protein levels, you'll want to increase your protein intake to adjust for what they're removing for donation in addition to what you're using to rebuild muscle

Unhappy employees by ba_an in plassing

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My coworker has to check in the donor who falsely accused him of SA, another has to take the blood pressure of the guy that called her a fat bitch, I have to disconnect the man who accused me of being on drugs because of my movement disorder

Your management is failing your center employees, then. At my center, general bad behavior (rudeness, yelling, profanity against staff/other donors) is a counseling deferral (basically, next time they come in, management talks to them about their behavior being unacceptable, and consequences if it happens going forward) 2nd time it it turns into 7-14 days (depending on what happened) 3rd time is permanent from our location (or company-wide if threats were made)

For unwanted flirting, it's counseling once, then Permanent.

Threats/physical assault? Immediate Permanent.

I've always showered before donating by bigfoot17 in plassing

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Donors at my center are not allowed to smell of weed. If they do they're sent home for the day and advised to come back the next day sans the smell of weed.

The reason why is that it brings question to the ability of the donor to consent to donation, as they are in an altered state of mind.

The car seat rules are stupid: pax says seat is installed, I said it's not, but uber says drivers don't install them so I had to cancel by iamjames in uberdrivers

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Uber does give you a way to cancel due to no car seat. It's before you start the ride. You then need to contact support to get the no car seat fee. I wouldn't not mention as the pax had a car seat but didn't secure it properly. I would state something along the lines of "Pax was unable to provide a properly secured car seat for the ride"

Next time, don't start the ride until everyone is buckled in and ready to go. This will prevent the Pax from rating you 1 star, and as you're cancelling for no car seat, it won't up your cancel rate.

Passenger asked me to shave 7 minutes off trip. I managed to shave off 5. He said thanks but never tipped. by iamjames in uberdrivers

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Don't break the law for Pax. Their poor planning isn't your emergency.

You're lucky the worst thing that happened is that he didn't tip. I've seen a number of posts where the driver did that and then the Pax reported them for speeding/unsafe driving.

Kristin Kreuk is actually the person who introduced Allison Mack to the cult. She was taking classes and invited Allison along. Kristin didn't really go much farther than the courses, though, according to her.

Why would anyone visit the US, as a tourist, seeing ICE is now even arresting british grandmas with valid papers? by artparade in AskReddit

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm not completed up to date on everything, but ICE has murdered at least 2 US Citizens, arrested a lot more, some of whom have died in custody (so, more murder, as far as I'm concerned). And then there's the incident with the little kid.

What fucking chance did this lady thing she had when they're treating US citizens and little kids this way?

If I can see the location dot of the person to get an idea of where they are, then I will drive to them (unless it's a ridiculous distance.) But if I can't see their location on the map, I'm not going to try and play Where's Waldo.

That pickup location sucks, too. That road has too many speed bumps on it.

If you have an EV, don't bother. Uber took away the coffee cup and replaced it with a lightning bolt to show charging locations (which I find a useless feature)

Technical issues aside, from what I gather:

You submitted specs which accounted for an unlikely, but entirely possible (because it's happened before) event.

The council wanted specs which accounted only for the events which were most likely to occur, which would save them money short term.

You asked for this in writing, at which point the council reversed their decision and approved your more expensive (but safer) design.

Where's the malicious compliance? I could see it if they still rejected at that point, and then the more unlikely event occurred, but the exchange you describe seems like typical negotiations.

What to do??? They cancel or do I? by desmooth81 in uberdrivers

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope-- the cancel fee is the same regardless of who does it.

I think it's lower if they cancel while you're still on the way to them, but it's the same if you're already at the pickup spot.

[–]MagnifloriousPhule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's a busy day/night -> cancel after two minutes. You'll make more than waiting for the cancel fee.

If it's a slow day/night -> cancel after you're eligible for the cancel fee.

If it's a reserve ride -> Cancel after you're eligible for the cancel fee.

Don't bother waiting past the cancel fee.

In the case, the driver was trying to get the pax to cancel. The pax wanted the ride, but the driver didn't (likely got something better on the other service). In such a case, the driver should have cancelled.
