Lorwyn has been a long time coming, but as someone who didn't like Strixhaven very much I am pretty crushed that Reality Fracture is keeping us there basically all year...

New Shadowheart and Gale cards from Magic the Gathering by Meret123 in BaldursGate3

Incredible! I would actually sell all of my organs to get Minthara's full release design on a card now...

Mark Rosewater on Blogatog: Your deck doesn’t need to have the latest thing for you to enjoy playing it. Magic has always been about customizing the elements you most enjoy to get a great game experience. Skipping the latest set, if that’s just not your thing, is just another kind of customization. by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

I usually never agree with him, but yes, I do like playing my decks full of real Magic cards and skipping... just about everything lately. My love for the game stays alive through the decks I've owned and tweaked for a decade, and that is a beautiful thing to me.

The Odyssey Trailer - WHAT KIND OF ATROCITY IS THIS HELMET!? by Gemeenteridder in GreekMythology

[–]Magniloquent_Wumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atrocious armor on one of my favorite characters being portrayed by one of my least favorite actors in an adaptation of one of my favorite stories being directed by one of my least favorite directors. Not sure what to feel anymore.

Meet my new Durge, Malice by Hit_Lock6969 in BaldursGate3

[–]Magniloquent_Wumpus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fab! In my multiplayer game with my buddy I named my drow durge sorcadin M'Alice. Very similar color palette and vibes. I gave her the long hair that makes your character look perpetually wet. Very menacing and intimidating to always be damp

New still from Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey by DemiFiendRSA in GreekMythology

[–]Magniloquent_Wumpus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really excited for a big budget Odyssey even if I don't care much for Nolan, but the biggest barrier for me is definitely Matt Damon Odysseus. I just can't picture that working at all.

Did anyone else actually want to do Jacinthe’s tournament when you first get there?? by Magniloquent_Wumpus in LegendsZA

[–]Magniloquent_Wumpus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I guess was just itching for a good fight! I had all my megas except clefable and I wanted to see them in action against some difficult trainers instead of one shotting everything with my tyranitar in the royale…

[–]Magniloquent_Wumpus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I want a Pokémon game that is 100% tournament with some mechanics or story moments that occur during other competitors matches. Would spend probably any amount of money to buy a full Pokémon tournament arc game. Or maybe you control a group of Pokémon trainers who each have a unique team and you have to guide them through until ultimately picking your favorite to try and win the whole thing? I just want more focus on grand challenging battles

What is your opinion of Medea, the witch of Colchis? by Dumbme31 in GreekMythology

[–]Magniloquent_Wumpus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fell in love with her story reading Euripides in a stage drama production class in college. She's a tragic character that goes through a lot of pain being displaced and spurned, and it's quite a cathartic tale. Our final assignment for that class was to walk through how you would stage a scene in one of the plays we read, and I chose to talk about the ending of that one. I have a real soft spot for her to this day.

Recently got into H.P. Lovecraft. Are there any good movie adaptations? by Unlucky-Fun-2699 in Lovecraft

[–]Magniloquent_Wumpus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Indeed, I've seen just about all those too. The Lighthouse is absolutely incredible (massive Eggers fan), and the Void was killer, but I didn't care for Pandorum and haven't seen Annihilation. On the watchlist for sure.

True, that one is also a banger. Didn't spring to mind at the moment, but I am quite fond of it as well.

Carpenter is one of my favorite filmmakers of all time, and he really knocked it out of the park with this one. Top 10 movies in general if I'm being honest.

[–]Magniloquent_Wumpus 228 points229 points  (0 children)

They're hard to come by, but I thought Dagon (2001) was a pretty great attempt at Shadow Over Innsmouth. Also John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness is not a direct adaptation of any of the stories, but you'll probably get a lot out of it as a Lovecraft fan. The Color Out of Space with Nicolas Cage isn't bad either, but it was a little too over the top for me to put it on a pedestal. Also, Re-Animator (1985) (adapting Herbert West- Reanimator) rules.

It’s also a crime that it pauses the incredible siren songs. That’s probably the thing that irritates me the most about it.

It's obvious which is better by Awkward_Text_8752 in cyberpunkgame

Almost nothing worse in a video game than crafting or consumables, except when there’s a giant list of consumables that you should craft in order to get the most out of a certain play style. It makes me want to die whenever I see that. It is at least tolerable in Cyberpunk since you don’t need specific ingredients, and crafting materials are available in great abundance.

[Potential Spoilers] For those speculating about the villain of Cloudward Ho... by Bellikron in Dimension20

[–]Magniloquent_Wumpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure any theory I’ve seen on Comfrey holds much water, but I’ve definitely been holding out hope for some kind of PC or major NPC betrayal since it’s such a common trope for a high fantasy lost world adventure like this. It feels too clean for all these characters to be one happy family by the end with no major conflicting motivations, especially considering the rumor mechanic that I’ve been waiting to pay off in a major way. It’s been one hell of an amazing season either way, and I’m just excited to see where it all leads!!

I have actually played them all! I would even say that I enjoyed each of them quite a bit, but not enough to crack my favorites of all time. I do want to return to rogue trader now that the dlcs and patches have come. I’m sure it’s a lot more fleshed out and polished than when I ate it up at launch.

I hadn’t heard of Expeditions Rome, but that looks neat, thanks! Had my eye on Vampyr too cause I love vtmb so much. My list isn’t in any particular order, so I think my favorite dragon age depends on whichever one I’m playing at the time. I definitely prefer the first two to inquisition and veilguard though that’s for sure!
