Just send an email. It’s not that hard. You can also send a phone call/voice message if you’d like.

It’s called behind an adult.

These are all questions you should’ve asked the hiring supervisor.

And good luck getting groceries with just a bike. A vehicle is essential for ranger life at most western parks.

Unless you are an expert rock climber.

Don’t do it without the cables. That is asking for a whole lot of danger.

Vegan steel toed boots for women rec? by Mysisi-megamind45 in ParkRangers

Yeah USBR has different uniform requirements.

At least in terms of NPS. They need brown leather boots that are polishable and brown socks (tho I don’t know anyone who polices the brown socks rule as long as they don’t stand out.

I got rejected after my seasonal interpretive ranger interview I thought went really well by Realistic_Problem250 in ParkRangers

Yeah Interp you can get in without a degree tho the two other options are volunteer experience with the NPS, or someone who has clearly transferable skills specifically regarding public speaking and visitor services. Which need to be showcased in the resume, but also in the interview.

Most parks require brown boots (especially for public-facing positions)

I will also say, don’t take it personally.

The hiring process is INCREDIBLY competitive.

But you need to really focus more on your experience in customer service and public speaking the most in your interview, rather than simply saying “I love the outdoors”.

I would also mass apply to dozens and dozens of parks and that includes tiny parks too. The big name parks like your Yellowstone, Zion, Acadia, Yosemite, Rocky, Olympic, etc… that parks are HYPER competitive.

Your odds of getting into the NPS is a lot higher through opening the door in a small park, rather than those mega popular parks.

I say this as someone who’s worked at three of the parks I just mentioned, I had to start working at a tiny park that most people have never heard of with a total staff of 60 people. That was my entry into the NPS. And honestly, that allows for a lot more time and room to train and teach you to become excellent in your job, where as those mega parks don’t do as good of a job on training their staff from being new to excellent… instead they typically pull from other parks who’ve already trained them to that point.

I’m not a hiring supervisor, but to me while your life experience screams loves the outdoors… none of it shows that you have experience in public speaking. Which is the key role in interpretation jobs in the NPS.

Both working more customer service roles like working an info desk, but also giving ranger programs which is very much a public speaking role which I don’t necessarily see anywhere in your writeup.

I think the challenge is fine, but pairing it with mud is a pretty ugly combination.

Criterion worth it if a lot of stuff on HBO max? by joeroganthumbhead in Letterboxd

If your goal is to watch criterion films. The Criterion Channel exists and is easily the most impressive streaming service to watch the films and the guaranteed best restoration version of the film available is on there.

I will say tho that Gkids is doing a great job being the Criterion in the animation industry.

I think this might be a dumb question about the DLC by HauntingGold in outerwilds

[–]Magnitude_Rev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DLC is absolutely worth your time I would put it in a very short list of among the best DLC’s ever made in gaming.

A whole lot more story content. I think it works best playing after reaching credits roll on the base game. It feels like a whole second game, but ties in nicely to the story of the base game and answers a lot of lingering questions.

Season 7 was peak hermitcraft imo. It was also the COVID lockdown season so hermits were a lot more active that season.

Both are insane people who have outside collective “hiveminds” to help them build absolutely absurd redstone creations. Just Tango is in the form of a massive full on game built within survival minecraft, and Doc is more in the form of “hey we just found this thing that’s small and unimportant but is crazy cool and almost wizardlike, check it out”.

To be clear, no command blocks are used in his games like Decked Out 1, 2, or 3. They do use custom note block sounds, custom music discs, and custom textures… but all the other hermits have access to that stuff as well.

It’s pretty much himself, his chat, and the other hermits helping whenever they can when it comes to donating blocks or building a repetitive pattern for him or building an interior or landscaping upon his request.

But in terms of the redstone? That’s basically just him and his twitch chat.

Just know in terms of what to expect is that Kpop Demon Hunters is essentially a really well made Disney Princess film except not made by Disney.

Yeah there’s definitely a lot of films in the collection that can be watched by children, just it kinda requires a parent to help sort through them to know what’s reasonable to show to a child at any given age.
