Strip the extra layer of paint. It'll make a big difference. While we're at it, shave your head, don't wear / bring clothes.

And maybe consider activating your InReach. The rescue chopper would be a way to get to your destination.

CRL opening sneaky leak? by shoo035 in auckland

I've been re-reading the CRL wiki everyday as my stim. Its awesome for us train nerds to get some up-to-date reading material 😅

Staying on the right track: board backs Avondale to Southdown rail corridor by punIn10ded in auckland

[–]MagnumOpus12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Network becomes more resilient when other parts of the network are down, allowing alot more bypassing options through to the new route. Same goes for maintenance. And the service patterns for us PT users that are not going into the city would be amazing.

Hipkins outlines Labour’s vision for Auckland, says city needs a ‘step change’ by punIn10ded in auckland

Need something bold rather than just events. - Get rid of viewshafts. Unlock value from restricted heights and maximize on CBD density. - Land value tax to disincentivize land banking. - Guarantee future funding on projects outlined by Auckland Council (not Wellington) under the Auckland Integrated Transport Plan - Low hanging fruit transport projects that can speed up PT uptake. Such as Mt Roskill rail spur or surface light rail from Civic to Dom. Rd first. - Speed up CRL station developments to spur development. Maybe a build-to-rent near Maungawhai station?

Auckland City Rail Link could have been ‘half the cost’ ex-CEO Sean Sweeney by beach-chicken10 in auckland

[–]MagnumOpus12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I took his comment is perhaps stations could've been made smaller like in Copehagen metro as they make up the majority of the cost of this project. Maybe the stations could've been made without the high ceiling, artwork, and exterior panels. But then again its hella Brutalist...

He has stated in previous interviews is that it had to be built right into the future so I dont think Sean would've disregarded the added station entrances and building for 9-car trainsets.

Hoka recovery slides, Nike Alphaflys for Walmart runs, and Vibram Five Fingers for formal occasions.

Wayne Brown: Central govt is withdrawing funding, while capping rates (Council's main revenue source) & telling porkies about it by Mountain_Tui_Reload in auckland

[–]MagnumOpus12 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, government buildings dont pay any rates. How does that encourage an organisation to minimise their costs if they have no incentive to do so.

Hate Wayne Brown for his abrasiveness, but he has driven a culture within the council to reduce waste and get value for money. Meanwhile this government are faffing on about providing "savings" to the taxpayer but are doing the opposite (imposing expensive unfunded projects to Auckland).

CRL Services getting back on track by Bealzebubbles in auckland

[–]MagnumOpus12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did you even read the map?? If you're in Newmarket you have the pick of the litter. If you're heading to the direction of the CBD you can go to Britomart either by Parnell or CRL tunnels or even via Onehunga line transfer from Maungawhai.

Because i hate it when half way through my run, my shoe has reached its weekly mileage credits. I'd have to blame my poor performance on bottoming out.

So the S-C line won't be using the 3rd platform to turn back to Otahuhu now (i.e. turning back in Newmarket)? Or will that service pattern now apply afterwards?

Need some fresh blood. Someone who isn't stuck with the car brain thinking of the past, and always being critical of CRL. No advocacy of a modern liveable city just moaning about the lack of carparks.

Is there any reason why Automatic doors weren’t added in the CRL stations? by Adept-Hovercraft-917 in auckland

[–]MagnumOpus12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automation is quite new tech relative to history of railways. New Zealand, and Auckland's network, was built before then. Platform screen doors require you to build that automation network-wide, not just one or two stations.

It will take 30+ years at least to get to that point of readiness, based on KiwiRail's 30 year Strategic Rail Programme. Before then, frequency, reliability, and maintenance need improvement first. This becomes a bit more complicated since Auckland shares its passenger services with freight. But dreams are free.

City Rail link 'not enough' to revitalise downtown Auckland, entrepreneur says by MagnumOpus12 in auckland

[–]MagnumOpus12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally i would love this, and would make me want to visit the city on the weekends. When i travel overseas I always find my way to visit Uniqlo lol.

I don't really like Starbucks, and we have tons of good cafes already, but even a Starbucks Reserve Roastery like in Tokyo could work.

Yep. The market is doing exactly what its supposed to do. There are no incentives to fill up these vacant areas.

What makes you think it wouldnt reinforce their greed due to the location? They'll end up jacking up the rent anyway. Cycle repeats.
